Advanced RV, a custom RV company based in Willoughby, Ohio, has turned an imported third-generation Mercedes Sprinter van into a green camper. Featuring a bright-green interior, an 800-ah battery bank and upscale amenities such as a Vizio smart TV, a multi-fold extendable table and touchscreen control, the RV, known as the Baja, is listed at $328,000.
Advanced RV wanted to go modern in its design approach so rather than staid granite counters and wood paneling, they opted for a lime green palette, which is displayed throughout the van on the furniture, the MBUX infotainment screen, and the door handle surrounds.
The project began with a 170-in wheelbase 2019 Mercedes Sprinter – the last Sprinter manufactured in Germany before production move to the US. Advanced RV has added stainless steel surfaces to offset the green furniture and cabinetry, as well as, a stowaway countertop extension/dining table combination. The Baja also includes a dual-panel tabletop that extends from a slot below the end of the kitchen counter. The table converts into an L-shaped counter and two-person dining area.
The sofa, which features a unique cushion design, can be folded down electrically to become a double bed. The 24-in Vizio smart TV with Apple TV is positioned perfectly to be viewed from the sofa bed. In keeping with the green theme, a set of green ceiling speakers provide surround sound.
The van doesn’t provide a stove but there is enough space on the counter for a portable stove. There is, however, a microwave across from the stainless-steel counter as well as a large 193-L standing fridge/freezer below. Meanwhile, a wet bathroom between the kitchen and the lounge area includes a sink, shower, and toilet.
The electrical equipment is powered by a large 800Ah lithium-ion battery pack intended for off-grid usage, which can be charged with a second alternator. Advanced RV has also incorporated a Silverleaf touchscreen command system that allows complete control of components and data display functions, including temperature adjustment and power system monitoring.
Other features include diesel heating, on-demand hot water, a run-quiet air conditioner, a keypad entry system, and Compustar security. Advanced RV has also added a VB air suspension and tire monitoring system to the base Sprinter. The van can transport water in 151-L fresh, 102-L gray and 68-L black tanks.
The Baja van can be purchased for a steep $328,000 or rented for $390 a day, which makes more sense unless you’re planning on living in the van year-round.
