Mercedes-AMG makes some of the best performance cars in the world with the latest being the One hypercar. It is also the brand's most expensive car in the model line-up. After years of testing this race track-focused model, it's ready to take on the best.

Apart from using technology derived from its ventures in motorsport, it features a full carbon fiber body. It also features carbon fiber monocoque. However, unlike Lewis Hamilton's F1 car, the AMG One features Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel-drive. The Mercedes-AMG One is an exclusive hypercar that uses an F1-derived powertrain.

Amalgam is the pinnacle of scale model car manufacturers - and every example is handcrafted in limited numbers. The UK-based brand's ability to replicate the full-sized original is something to behold. We would be lying if we said we could tell the differences in these images.

One of their latest releases is the all-new Mercedes-AMG One in 1:8 scale, just like the Ferrari SP3 Daytona we'd featured earlier. Now, while the actual car costs $2.7 million, the scaled-down version has you covered for $17,570.

It's also one of the first hypercars ever to use an F1 hybrid powertrain for the road. Mercedes-AMG has created this beast to celebrate its success in motorsport while also giving us a glimpse into will supercars of the future from Mercedes-Benz.

The 1:8 Mercedes-AMG One has been made using top-quality casting resins that mimic the actual car's details. It's made by combining 3D printing, CNC machining, and CAD design, along with hand-making techniques.

Once the model is painstakingly built, it is sent in for scrutiny by the manufacturer or the client that ordered the model car. We're certain none of them want faults in the paint or anything for that matter.

Form follows function for this Mercedes-AMG, and it can be seen in the details of the One hyper sports car. Every exterior detail on the scale model reminds you of how important performance is to Mercedes-AMG. The curved proportions are spot-on on the scale model, and the mid-engine layout is clearly visible if the tiny engine covers are removed.

The flared wheel arches and the wasp waist along with its long tail are motorsport-inspired. You'll notice the big black front spoiler and the air inlets spanning the width of the nose, giving the scale model car its intimidating, catfish-like face.

The LED headlights, while flat, merge well with the rest of the nose. The roofline that blends into the vertical shark fin also features an air inlet. There are budget scale model carmakers that tend not to give attention to the exhaust details, but Amalgam being a premium scale model carmaker, gets the exhaust pipe design on-point.

On the actual car, this is a functional design that also looks great, giving the car lots of character. It's a race car the moment you look at it - and the scale model version apes the actual car beautifully.

Coming to the actual AMG One: the cockpit is designed to give its driver the closest possible experience to a Formula One car. All the colors and materials draw inspiration from, again, a Formula One car.

The pair of bucket seats are simple but have been made using the best materials. The pedals and the F1-style steering wheel, which can be ogled at in the scale model, can be adjusted on the actual car.

The center tunnel separates the driver and passenger. According to Mercedes-AMG, it is a functional component of the carbon fiber support structure. The seat surfaces in the model car look like the Nappa leather ones on the actual hypercar.

The Mercedes-AMG One's powertrain pushes out 1049 hp. It has three electric motors in total. Plus, the engine makes use of a single electrically-assisted turbo. This helps the turbo spool up before the engine exhaust kicks in. The result is reduced turbo lag. Six drive modes include Race Safe, Race, EV, Race Plus, Strat 2, and Individual.

The Mercedes-AMG One uses a 1.6-liter turbo V6 engine used in the Mercedes-AMG F1 W06 Formula 1 racer. The ICE unit alone makes 566hp, and the top speed is limited to 219mph. Paired to the engine is a 7-speed automated manual gearbox.
