The group of auto companies offering fully electric pickup trucks just introduced a new member. This comes after Canoo is officially revealed as an all-new all-electric pickup truck that is underpinned by its own proprietary skateboard platform. Canoo didn't reveal the name of its new pickup but said it would be strong as one of the toughest trucks the industry can offer.
Massive Cargo Capacity On Smallest Footprint Possible
Canoo's new pickup truck is essentially the third vehicle underpinned by the company's proprietary multi-purpose platform architecture. Since this platform has all the critical powertrain components functionally integrated as flat and efficiently as possible, the pickup truck can do away with the engine bay.
While this basically explains its pod-like appearance, the design of the Canoo pickup truck allows it to offer a relatively large flatbed size (compared to its size). The pickup truck measures just 184 inches (15.33 ft) in overall length, but its bed is already 72 inches long (6 feet). Interestingly, the pickup truck can be extended to 213 inches (17.75 feet), which also extends the bed to 102 inches (8.5 feet).
Interesting Working Features All Over
Canoo's new pickup truck also offers other interesting features. This include a front cargo storage area (for tools or gear) with a fold-down worktable with electrical outlets. This worktable can also be extended. In addition, both sides of the pickup truck have a flip down table (with two expandable depths) that can also serve as a workbench. The pickup truck also features a hidden step with a flexible storage area underneath.
Moreover, the vehicle's modular bed features a space divider system and a bed wall laden with modular wheel chocks and configurable tie downs. All sides of the truck features accessible power sources and perimeter lighting. The third brake light can serve as an overhead light. Interestingly, the Canoo pickup truck can be mounted with optional roof racks and accommodate a variety of camper shells.
Pre-Order To Commence Second Quarter 2021
Canoo's new all-electric pickup truck is offered in either dual or rear motor configurations. With dual motors, power is pegged at 600 hp of output and 550 lb-ft of torque. Featuring steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technologies, the vehicle offers an all-electric range of more than 200 miles.
The company will accept pre-orders for the production version in the second quarter of 2021, with deliveries set to commence in 2023.
