Sons of Anarchy and its ensuing spinoff, Mayans M.C., has withstood the test of time across pop culture as a motorcycle lover's best taste of bike life that we can find in movies or television media today. In both series, we get easily drawn in by the gang plots, multi-faceted characters, and eye-popping landscapes. However, we're still around to get a peek at some stellar bikes. In that department at least, both shows deliver every time.
It would be hard to choose between which show has the best bikes (especially when both gangs depicted on both shows showcase such different styles and aesthetics for their respective bikes), but instead, let's pick our favorites from both shows.
10 SoA: 2008 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide
We will expand a little later on why any motorcycle dubbed "Dyna" is associated with power, but knowing that little nugget alone should help fans understand why the 2008 model of the Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide was a must-have for the all-powerful original President of SAMCRO, Clay Morrow.
Loaded with Twin Cam 96 power under the tank, this is exactly the kind of bike that a high rolling boss should be riding through this world, all alone (as the lyrics of the show's theme tune should suggest).
9 Mayans: Custom Softail
Most of the motorcycles on both Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. have been customized to fit the aesthetic of each respective series, with one of the most notable customs coming from Mayans protagonist E.Z. Reyes.
It is a custom Softail that is equipped with simple additions like a lowered suspension, ape hangers, and fishtail exhaust tips. On paper at least, these are simple adjustments that anyone could make using spare auto parts, but as we can tell, they made all the difference in making the final product a staple of Mayans iconography.
8 SoA: Dyna Super Glide Sport
In Hebrew and German, the word "Dyna" translates to "justified" or "ruler with the spear," as well as "God will judge." As someone who spends much of Sons of Anarchy as the President of SAMCRO, it only feels fitting for his signature bike to be the Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport.
From the moment we saw him for the first time onscreen, it was hard not to associate power with our protagonist. It's also worth mentioning that there's a cool looking Reaper designed on the engine to give this bike a special Jax touch.
7 Mayans: 2017 Softail Deluxe
We caught a glimpse of E.Z. Reyes' signature bike from the show just a little bit earlier during this list, but the actor playing E.Z., J.D. Pardo, himself admitted that he is more a fan of the 2017 Softail Deluxe.
The Softail Deluxe actually does make an appearance during the show, and we can see why the filmmakers thought it was a bike that was special enough to include in the show. This Deluxe Softail model was originally introduced in 1984, but eventually was revamped in 2017 to include a high input twin-cam, among other distinct features.
6 SoA: Harley-Davidson Electra Tri-Glide
Surely, this list would not be complete if we left it alone without talking about Piney's signature Harley-Davidson Electra Tri-Glide. Not just because of the love which every fan holds for good ol' Piney, but because the bike itself as a whole looks - dare we say - electric!
This standard H-D touring model offers the rider with 114 cubic inches of twin cooled Milwaukee Eight engine power, as well as chassis control and horizontal brake control via powertrain technology. We can see what Piney thought was so special about this thing.
5 Mayans: 1940s Style Heritage Softail
Keeping with the Mayan tradition of burning rubber along the road on a Softail, let us take a closer look at a special bike that frequented the gang: the Style Heritage Softail. Powered by V2 four-stroke engine that revs to 5,000 rpm, it's easy to see why so many of the Mayans like to ride out on this kind of cycle.
Our favorite character - the aforementioned Rivera - in particular, has often been seen occasionally riding on a 1940s version of it. The more vintage look certainly helps him stand out among all of the other Softails in the group.
4 SoA: Panhead Restoration
Most fans of Sons of Anarchy will profess to Opie being one of their favorite characters - if not, their all-time fave - among the cast, and it is easy to see why, especially when we take a lot at his Harley-Davidson Panhead Restoration.
The bright blue, old school model is a total contrast to the usual Harley-Davidsons that come out of that SAMCRO parking lot, but that is exactly what makes it stand out the most among the crop. Out of all the bad boy cycles at SAMCRO, we'd most want our hands on this vintage Panhead.
3 Mayans: FLSTN Softail Deluxe
As stated earlier, the Mayan crew is filled with different models of the Harley-Davidson Softail and Softail Deluxes. Among that wide assortment of Softails, the FLSTN Softail Deluxe might stand out to most as the most unique of the bunch.
The reason being because of the sparkling - yet subtle - combination of chrome with dark, menacing paint schemes. Among the cycle's several different features, it comes equipped with a 6-speed cruise drive, 96B Twin Cam engine, and ESPFI that gives the bike that extra boost on the road.
2 SOA: 2011 Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob
Taking a look at another SAMCRO regular's hot rod, we now take a look at Alex "Tig" Trager's 2011 model of the Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob. Tig was always, in all honesty, a weirdo with darkness hanging over his head at every turn.
But at least at every turn, he was also guided by a mini-ape handlebar, trademark Fat Bob fuel in the tank of a Twin Cam 96 engine, electronic speedometer, and even an LED taillight. Having half of those features should make up for Tig being creepy.
1 Mayans: Road King
Whether you call him Marcus Álvarez or El Padrino while watching the show, he is best known in real life as Emilio Rivera. What most die-hard fans may not know is that not only is Rivera a bike aficionado himself, but he helped design many of the cycles which appear on Mayans.
Among his contributions to the series are the Harley-Davidson Road King, which he customized by painting it a shade of green - which just so happens to be his favorite color - inspired by his 1948 Chevrolet.
