It's fair to say that all the talk of the town recently has been with Chevrolet and the new Corvette Z06 for 2023. The car was launched on October 26th to much fanfare, as the company looked to build on the momentum that they created with the mid-engine Corvette Stingray in 2020. The 2023 Corvette Z06 is the most powerful and fastest Z06 that has ever been created. And there is plenty to get excited about with the new car, from its V8 engine, wild looks, and incredible power output.

Chevrolet launched the car with a star-studded line-up, that included professional basketball superstar Devin Booker, and record-breaking extraordinaire Emelia Hartford, who showed what the Corvette could do with her own 2020 Stingray. The new Z06 certainly has the feel of one of the most ambitious and outrageous additions to the Corvette line-up to date. We’re going to go through all of the ins and outs of this remarkable machine to give you a full rundown of what it is all about, and why this car is so remarkable. It's early days really, but it looks like Chevrolet has built a winner.

The Basic Details Of The New Corvette Z06

Let's start off by taking a look at what’s under the hood of the Z06. The 2023 Corvette Z06 features an all-new LT6 engine, a 5.5-liter DOHC V8 motor that produces around 670 hp at 8,400 rpm and redlines at 8,600 rpm. Chevrolet took the responsiveness and trackability of the engine as their two main priorities for the Z06, and the company took it upon themselves to exceed the power of any naturally aspirated production V8 that has ever been made. To allow it to rev at such high rpm, the V8 has a lightweight, flat-plane crank design which helps as well to create huge amounts of power.

All of this power is harnessed by the driver via an eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission that has a specific, and shorter, 5.56 final drive ratio compared to the Stingray. This has been done to enhance the acceleration capability of the car, and give it that little bit more punch and excitement. And of course, all of that power is sent through the car to the rear wheels. Already we can tell that this car is 670 hp of fury. That’s before we get onto the looks of the car.

One Of The Most Spectacular Looking Corvette’s Ever

Whilst looks might seem quite a mundane thing to talk about, they are still a vital part of any car and especially a performance car. It is safe to say that the new Corvette Z06 is one hell of a looking car. The rear of the car features a carbon fiber rear wing that has been mounted high, and there are a front splitter and side skirts to help aid downforce. Remember, this is a more track focussed Corvette and downforce is an important word here. Then there is the optional aero package that adds a bigger front splitter and more besides.

There are widened fender flares all across the car, with the front fascia design done to help aide funnel air into the third central engine radiator. The rear inlets are also particularly striking, much bigger than on the Stingray and that has been done to meet the increased cooling demands of the engine. This all combines to give the new Z06 a truly spectacular aesthetic and surely makes it one of the most spectacular-looking cars to ever bear the Corvette name. Finally, we have the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminum spider wheels. They are the largest ever to be seen on a production Corvette.

Customization Is Aplenty For The Z06

Chevrolet is perhaps offering one of the most customizable iterations of the Corvette yet with the new Z06. There are 12 exterior colors alone available to choose from for the new Z06, as well as six brake caliper colors, stripe options, aero packages, and more besides. Chevrolet really is trying to be as accommodating as it can be for everyone. Step inside the car and you will find an upgraded interior over last year's Stingray, with new materials and packages offering plenty of comfort for such a sporty car, with a lot of carbon fiber trim offers also available.

All in all, then, it looks like Chevrolet has come up with a truly spectacular car. The new Z06 is very much one of the most aggressive-looking Corvette’s we have ever seen and it would appear that its on-track performances could be some of the best we have ever seen from the fabled sports car. Chevrolet says that production for the car will begin in the summer of 2022, and will be built at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant in both left and right-hand drive. This is very much a release that has got everybody talking.
