Not long ago, the famous Italian make, Ferrari, showed to the world one of their newest models and the successor of the Ferrari 488: the Ferrari F8 Tributo. Like its predecessor, its a mid-engine RWD sports car, and it actually uses the same engine as the Ferrari 488 Pista.
The 3,9 liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces 720 horsepower and its paired to a dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. The performance numbers are just as impressive, it can do 0 to 60 in only 2,9 seconds and has a top speed of 211 mph.
Italy is a country well known, apart from its food and culture, for its amazing supercars. Brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Alfa Romeo, Ducati, among others, made Italy very famous inside the car community. On the other hand, US carmakers, just as passionate as the Italians, have always bee focused on huge power numbers for a fraction of the price.
Nowadays, some American manufacturers have stepped up the game and added to their performance cars the ingredient that was missing before. These are some of the American made cars that could easily compete with the new Ferrari F8 when it comes to sheer speed.
10 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo
You may have heard the name Saleen somewhere but aren't sure where. Founded by Steve Saleen, this company used to be in the business of modifying Ford Mustangs. However, in the late '90s, Saleen decided to make a unique supercar of their own, and it became one of the craziest vehicles the US has produced. The latest variant features a twin-turbo V8 that pumps out 750 hp and goes on to hit a top speed of 249 mph. That's a big chunk more than any Ferrari ever could, and it's a 20-year-old design.
9 Corvette C7 ZR1
The Corvette is the signature performance American car, and it's the perfect combination of power, handling, and price. The ZR1 is the more radical version of the Corvette, as it packs a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 that produces 755 horsepower - 35 more than the Ferrari. It can do 0 to 60 in 2,85 seconds and achieve a top speed of 212 mph. It's clear that it can compete with the Ferrari in any way possible, and while it is not a cheap car, you can buy two of these for the price of an F8 and still have some cash left over.
8 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon
The Dodge Demon is one of the fastest (if not the fastest) production cars of all time. Its supercharged V8 produces a staggering 840 horsepower. Thanks to its amazing power, it can do 0 to 60 in only 2,3 seconds! So far, the Demon has 120 horsepower more than the Ferrari, and it's over half a second faster to 60 mph.
On the other hand, it's almost strictly a drag car so on a track it wouldn't stand a chance, but if you happened to own one of these and came across the Ferrari on the highway, the supercar owner is going to be shocked.

7 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
The name Shelby has been synonymous with performance for a long time, and especially when related to the Mustang. The 2020 Shelby GT500 is the most powerful Ford yet. It has a 5.2 liter supercharged V8 producing 770 horsepower, 50 more than the Ferrari. Contrary to the Challenger and the Camaro, the Mustang performs excellently in an area were most American sports cars fail handling.
Thanks to its powerful engine and its 10-speed automatic transmission, the GT500 does 0 to 0 to 60 in 3,5 seconds, which is half a second slower than the Ferrari, but it's still more likely to keep up with the F8 on a track.
6 Ford GT
The new generation of the Ford GT is the ultimate supercar. While the first-gen had a 500 horsepower mid-mounted V8 with a manual transmission, Ford stepped up and decided to use some cutting edge technology for the new car. The V8 was replaced with a 3.5 liter Ecoboost V6 that produces over 600 horsepower. Although it has 120 horsepower less than the Ferrari, the Ford GT will actually hit 60 mph sooner. That't because the body is made of aluminum and carbon fiber, making it extremely light. Fun fact, only 1000 are going to be made, and Ford makes potential buyers pass a test and explain on video why they should be able to buy one of these.
5 Hennesey Venom GT
Hennessey is a well-known high-performance tuner based on Texas, but it was in everyone's mouth when in 2010 they revealed to the world the car that would become the fastest car before the Koenigsegg Agera RS claimed the title. The Venom GT is based on a Lotus Elise, and it's powered by an LS7 engine, a 7 liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 1250 horsepower. For a time, it held the world speed record with a top speed of 270 mph. Although that record was later beaten, the Venom GT still holds the Guinness record for acceleration, reaching 186 mph (300 km/h) in just 13,5 seconds.

4 Tesla Model X P100D
One of the main advantages of EVs is the instant torque, which means that power is delivered immediately. On top of that, Tesla cars have a ton of power. The SUV from the brand has an AWD Dual-Motor system which makes it, according to Tesla, the quickest SUV on earth. It can do 0 to 60 in only 2,6 seconds. Once again, this SUV wouldn't stand a chance against the Ferrari in a track or any kind of race other than a quarter-mile, but it still worth recognizing the fact that an electric SUV does 0-60 faster than a Ferrari.
3 Tesla Model S P100D
The most famous electric sedan of them all. Like many cars, it has different trim levels, being the P1000D the top of the line version. The car can do 0 to 60 in only 2,3 seconds in Ludicrous Mode, which is only available in this performance version. The Model S is not just an incredibly quick car, but it's also everything you want in a sedan: comfortable, great trunk space, and suitable for the family. Unlike the Model X, the Model S has the aerodynamics and suspension that give it the ability to compete with supercars.
2 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye
The Demon was one of the most expected muscle cars of the decade, but as I said before, it's almost exclusively a drag car, so what if you want to have the power of the Demon in a car more suitable for street use? Well, to answer that, Dodge made the Redeye. It has the same supercharged 6.2 liter V8 but instead of 840 horsepower, it has 797. 50 horsepower less doesn't sound like a lot, but there are things that distinguish one car from the other. For example, the Redeye doesn't include drag tires, it has bigger rims and it does have all the drag race technology or optional that the Demon has.
1 Hennessey Exorcist Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
It's clear that this car was made to battle the Demon. Even the name suggests it. The base is a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 wich Hennessey supercharges (amongst other modifications) and turns into a 1000 horsepower beast that can do 0 to 60 in 2.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 mph. Being honest, in a drag strip, the Ferrari wouldn't stand a chance. The downside to this car is that production is limited to 100 units, making it very special and rare, but also very expensive.
