America: The land of the free and the home of the brave. And, subsequently, the land of horsepower and monstrously fast gas-guzzlers. At least this is how most people generally see American.

In reality, there are many types of American cars on the market now that satisfy all sorts of wants and needs. Whether it be luxury, good-looks, or outright speed, the odds are you can find a company in the United States who manufactures it. All the way from Chevrolet to Hennessey, there are no shortage of impressive options.

10 Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac isn't know by many to create fast and exciting sports cars, however, there are always a few exceptions to the rule. The CTS-V has consistently been such an irregularity.

The CTS-V is a hybrid. Not in the literal sense, but the figurative one; blending both luxury and raw power together to make an all encompassing package. For an affordable sedan, a 200 mile per hour top speed is a mind-blowing figure for such a car.

9 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Championed by Jeep themselves as the worlds most powerful sports utility vehicle, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is nothing to raise your nose at. With over 707 horsepower, the Trackhawk can go a quarter of a mile in about 11 seconds.

Not only is it good for a hoot at the drag strip, but also for getting groceries and picking up the kids from school. It's going to be difficult for your significant other to come up with reasons why you have to sell this particular "sports car."

8 Ford Mustang

It's existed for over fifty years and is an American icon. Obviously this is referring to the long standing Ford Mustang. Since 1965, Ford has produced countless mustangs for all manners of purposes ranging from daily drivers to serious race cars.

Although some contend that the newer generation Mustangs lack the curves and character of the older models, there can be no doubting the increase in performance. Along with this extra power, there are a variety of different specs and engines available such as a 4-cylinder turbo, V6, and Coyote 5-liter V8.

7 Chevrolet Camaro

One of the direct competitors to the Mustang: The Chevrolet Camaro. In terms of options and drivability, it shares many features with it's rival. Both offer a multitude of model variations and are relatively affordable to the general public.

The most impressive of all the options though is the ZL1 1LE SS Turbo (Yes, it's a mouthful). Once again rivaling other american companies like Ford and Dodge, the ZL1 1LE SS Turbo puts up a fight with a max speed of 202 miles per hour and over 650 horses under the hood.

6 Dodge Viper

Previously nicknamed "The Widow Maker," the Dodge Viper is still being produced to this day, just with more safety in mind. However, this doesn't mean there will be any compromises in terms of power.

The Viper still comes with a high liter V10 with some amazing engine notes to boot. What makes all this come together though is the manual transmission mixed with the v10 setup. Not much can beat a V10 with a good ol' standard transmission.

5 Tesla Model X

First Paypal and now Tesla and SpaceX; Elon Musk has created a litany of brilliant inventions. The most recent, and accessible, creation from Musk is his line of Tesla electric cars. More specifically, the Model X.

There have been a few notable electric sedans before the Model S, but the Model X is a first for an all electric S.U.V.. Not only is it revolutionary, but it also looks beautiful. Along with this appearance comes a cool gull-wing rear door mechanism and instant torque delivery through the electric motors in each wheel.

4 Dodge Challenger SRT "Demon"

If you've ever thought "The Challenger Hellcat just doesn't have enough power," then the Demon is the perfect solution. The SRT Demon is an even more heavily modified version of the Challenger Hellcat, which already comes with over 700 horsepower and even different types of car keys.

The Demon is another animal all together though with an extra 100+ horsepower. In addition, it is the world's fastest production car from zero to sixty with a time of less than 2.3 seconds. No wonder it's called the "Demon."

3 Chevrolet Corvette (C7)

Like the Mustang and Challenger, the Corvette has a rich history in both motor sports and affordable consumer sports cars. Now, the Corvette C7 (the current flagship Corvette body style) is taking the reigns and continuing the legacy.

Similar to other Chevrolet sports cars, it comes with a lot of different models with the most powerful being the new ZR1. Although some believe that American cars can't stand up to the European giants like Ferrari and Porsche, the ZR1 is shooting to break those misconceptions.

With the C7 coming to an end soon, the new mid-engine C8 will most likely be even more astounding than enthusiast speculate.

2 Ford GT

If history and racing is what you find the most important in a good sports car, look no further than the Ford GT. The Ford GT was the first car Ford made in the 70s to be able to come close to Ferrari in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. They're even making a movie about it: Titled "Ford v. Ferrari."

Still using styling queue from the classic GT40 and 2005 GT, the new Ford doesn't offer a crazy V8 or V10, but an eco-boosted V6. This threw the automotive community for a loop and had many question the decision. However, after multiple GT LM wins and countless sale and performance records, it is safe to say that the choice was a well founded one indeed.

1 Hennessey Venom GT & F5

To the average driver, the name "Hennessey" may just sound like an alcohol. Nonetheless, Hennessey is a competent and mechanically brilliant auto manufacturer that has broke records and tuned various vehicles from around the globe.

John Hennessey, the creator of the brand, took all of this experience and knowledge and put it into the Venom GT and the brand new Venom F5. When the Venom GT was fairly new in 2014, it became the world's fastest car with a total top speed of 270.49 miles per hour. The Venom F5 is it's successor and hopes to beat Hennessey's biggest rival: The Swedish Koenigsegg Agera RS (Who managed to top Hennessey's efforts in 2018).

Hopefully the title can be reclaimed for Hennessey. Not only would it be an outstanding achievement, but a huge win for America!
