That clunking sound you've been hearing the past week is of armchair scavengers leaping for joy after American Pickers star Mike Wolfe tweeted that a batch of new episodes are on the way. The return of History Channel's long-running reality show about collectors Wolfe and Frank Fritz seeking vintage items across the U.S. is of particular interest to gearheads, since the duo also has managed to unearth the occasional classic car.

Back On The Road

Whether they'll find any vintage vehicles this time around remains to be seen, but it's not likely that followers were able to conceal their excitement over the return of American Pickers. "Hey guys, we're back on the road out here," said Wolfe in a video tweet. "We've got new episodes coming soon. Thank you so much for being patient."

Wolfe also didn't reveal a premiere date or how many episodes will run, but it was enough to stir some excitement from his followers. And hopefully, some really cool cars might make it onto one of their forthcoming trips.

A Few Rare Cars

Yep, sandwiched a few times between previous findings that have ranged from rare toys and ceramics to furniture and posters, Wolfe and Fitz have found a few remarkable four-wheelers in their travels. Some remarkable vehicles that they've come across include Aerosmith's original tour van and actor Mickey Rooney's roadster.

But throughout the series, which has surpassed 300 episodes, nothing came close to the rarest of automobile finds, in this case, a custom wooden Model T Ford. The item was so much a one-of-a-kind discovery, neither collector was able to put a price on it.

Pretty Penny

No doubt Wolfe and Fitz have made a pretty penny as hosts of the show that's been on the air for the past decade. But even without the assistance of television, they've been doing alright. From flipping a 1960 Caddy worth $10,000 for an extra five grand to forking over $20,oo0 for a 1956 Chevy Bel-Air that's now worth $27,000.

Whatever these American Pickers find, expect the wheeling and dealing over their findings to continue big-time.
