Hyperdrive is a 2019 documentary-style show that is a non-scripted series on Netflix. Based on an auto racing reality TV show, the series follows drifting drivers from all over the world who compete against one another in the largest automotive courses. The first season of Hyperdrive was released on August 21, 2019, and consisted of 10 episodes. The drivers from this show have all gone on to varying things within their lives.

The second season has been in the works for some time now, and has been in high demand. Hopefully, they have a cool trailer for season 2 like they had for the first season. Executive producer Charlize Theron has been working to get the next season up and running, and fans can finally relax. We’re going to tell you everything we know about season 2.

First off - has Netflix renewed the series?

Fortunately for Hyperdrive fans, Netflix has renewed the show. The series premiered in August, and the show was already renewed the same week. Talk about a big hit. Of course, there are always some interesting things that happen behind-the-scenes that would intrigue the loyal viewers as well.

The premise

The original Netflix series followed 28 drivers as they showed the viewers and the hosts their customized racing cars. They then take these customized vehicles to ten racecourses - but not just any racecourse. The craziest and most dangerous courses that are in existence. There are extremely technically difficult parts of the courses that will make you gasp as you watch the talented drivers.

The program is hosted by Lindsay Czarniak, Rutledge Wood, Mike Hill, and Michael Bisping. Lindsay is a sports anchor and reporter who works for Fox Sports, covering NASCAR coverage and NFL games. Rutledge is an auto-racing analyst who also worked for Top Gear. Michael is an English sports analyst, commentator, and actor who formerly competed in the UFC. Mike is a sportscaster with Fox 1.

The Overall Ratings

via Hot Cars

With a 100% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8/10 on IMDb, it is safe to say that this is a widely-popular and highly-acclaimed show on TV today. Gaining a dedicated and devoted fan base, we find it hard to believe that Hyperdrive wouldn’t continue for a season 2.

We Can't Wait For Season 2...

via Fox News

If the second season is anything like the first, you can expect excitement. The show consists of a Hyperdrive course, a rifting course with various obstacles that must be dealt with and completed. Each obstacle has targets that must be hit, and you must follow all of the rules.

The first four episodes of the first season were qualifying rounds, with the top three competitors automatically advancing, and the slowest three automatically getting eliminated. We imagine that season 2 will have the same format for the episodes with new drivers.

After the first four episodes, the next three deal with another group of 4-6 new competitors all battling for the final spots. Once the elimination process is over, twelve competitors are remaining during the knockout rounds. The first three rounds see two competitors leave each round, while the remaining competitions see one person leave per round. The competition is won when the competitor who posts the fastest time in the final obstacle course is finished.

The Waiting Is The Hardest Part!

via The Little Speed Shop

There are reports that the date for season 2 will be announced by the winter of 2020. That’s just a few more months away - we can wait a little longer, right? With numerous competitions, fresh faces as competitors, and knowledgeable hosts, we can’t wait to see what season 2 brings.

Personally, we can't wait for the next season to come out. Charlize Theron really knows what she is doing in making an exciting show for both car-enthusiasts and those who don't know the difference between a Ford and a Toyota.
