Former Wheeler Dealer's co-host Anthony Richard Anstead popularly know as Ant Anstead was born on 28 March 1979, in Plymouth, Devon, England. At age 10 he moved with his family to Hertfordshire. Ant attended school at Richard Hale, and went on to do his A-levels at Haileybury. He has always been crazy about cars and wanted to build his dream car from an early age.
Ant is multitalented and has done it all, from being a Police Constable to building and restoring cars, to playing semi-professional football, and being a Television personality hosting various shows. Ant Anstead has amassed a wealth of $5 million, and some of that comes from being a gearhead.
8 The Host
Ant Anstead is known for his work as a television presenter of various car shows. He has hosted and co-hosted shows such as For The Love of Cars, Building Cars Live, The World's Most Expensive Cars, not to mention that he was the Wheeler Dealers restoration expert.
Ant replaced Edd China on Wheeler Dealers in 2017 as co-host to the famous show with Mike Brewer. A former McLaren Formula 1 mechanic, Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley, has since replaced Ant on the show as he has left to pursue other things.
7 Author/Artist
Ant is a man of many surprises, such as the fact that he's the author of two books. He has published a book titled Cops and Robbers, a story about the British police car. The other one is titled Petrolhead Parenting.
In an Instagram post Ant revealed that he has his third book in the works, though still in its early stages. He is into art as well, his work is in private collectors and even some museums.
6 Love Gone Wrong
Ant and Christina met in 2017, just about a year after her separation from ex-husband Tarek El Moussa. They were introduced by a mutual friend, even though Christina called it fate. They kept their relationship private for a year from social media platforms.
In 2018, the two wedded and welcomed a son the following year bringing the number of kids between them to five. Ant and Christina came with two kids each from previous marriages. Sadly, in September 2020, Ant Anstead and Christina Haack announced that they had decided to part ways.
5 He Was A Police Constable
He joined the police service in 1999, at age 18. Ant was part of the tactical firearm unit, and at age 23, he received two commendations for bravery. He left the police force to pursue other things in 2005.
Ant says "I saw and did things that people would shudder at. I even spent time in a safe-house with the “railway murderer” John Duffy. It changed everything for me".
4 The Philanthropist
The Harrison Fund is a charity helping children suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a fatal muscle-wasting condition. Ant has been actively involved since 2012 and has helped raise awareness.
Ant says, "I am so humbled to be involved in this great charity and delighted to have been invited to become a Patron. Knowing I am supporting something which could eventually mean a new lifeline for thousands of young boys each year is something I am proud to lend my voice to."
3 He Restores And Builds Cars
Ant Anstead runs his own company restoring and building cars commercially. Most of which he builds from scratch. He builds cars on request which are unique to a customers specifications. As a teen, he used to buy, fix, and resell cars, much to his parents' annoyance
These aren't your everyday cars though, but fully customized vehicles. According to Ant, "We even ensure the seating position, steering wheel and pedals suit the customer’s exact size and frame."
2 Ant Leaving Wheeler Dealers
Wheeler Dealers is a British show that aired on tthe Discovery Channel. Mike Brewer has been the show's host since day one, and Ant Anstead joined as co-host in 2017. The show has been filmed in the US for the past 6 years. For the 17th season, they've gone back home to film in the UK.
Ant announced he was leaving the show and has been replaced with Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley, a former Formula 1 Mechanic. According to Discovery, Ant will still be popping into the Wheeler Dealers workshop whenever he finds the time.
1 Proud Father
Ant has three kids. Two from his first marriage, which lasted for 12 years with ex-wife Louise, and one child from Christina. The eldest is Amelia, 17, followed by 14-year-old Archie, both of whom live with their mom in the UK.
Hudson is his youngest from the second marriage to Christina. He loves his kids a lot and spends time with them despite his busy life. Ant talks of his two older kids that "they are genuinely my best friends". He tells People Magazine that he is worthy of healing and spending time with Hudson has really helped him to cope with the split from his second wife.
