Remember British Airways' Concorde supersonic aircraft? Yes, we are referring to the supersonic passenger aircraft that went into retirement 16 years ago. British Airways and Aston Martin have entered into a partnership to honor that iconic aircraft that flew across the Atlantic at twice the speed of sound.

Dubbed the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde Edition, this special edition celebrates 100 years of British Airways. Actually, this centenary refers to when the first regular international flight (London to and from Paris) was launched by Aircraft Transport and Travel. Historic? We’re not done yet.

Jointly developed and manufactured by Sud Aviation and the British Aircraft Corporation, the Concorde can go as fast as Mach 2.04 or 1,354 mph at cruising altitude. Only 20 units of the supersonic aircraft were built (excluding six prototypes and developmental planes) with the first planes entering service in 1976.

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde Edition is being unveiled on the anniversary of the Concorde’s final flight. This occurred on November 26, 2003, with a Concorde named Alpha Foxtrot -- carrying around 100 British Airways cabin crew members and pilots -- landing at Filton, Bristol. That was the last time a Concorde was ever seen in the sky.

As a special edition, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde Edition features an exterior that identifies it with British Airways. Its bespoke livery features red, white and blue colors, just like the airline’s iconic Chatham Flag. Moreover, the car’s black tinted carbon fiber roof blends with the Concorde’s streamlined silhouette.
