Aston Martin is keen on producing the world's "most beautiful" SUV as it wades into the pond with the release of the DBX. And company chief executive Andy Palmer reckons the upcoming vehicle could be the most important in Aston Martin's history.

The CEO spoke to The Detroit Bureau in a recent interview and touched on the manufacturers' future, as well as the role the DBX will play in years to come.

Asked whether the demand for luxury SUVs could make it so that the DBX becomes the face of Aston Martin, Palmer insisted that such could indeed be the case.

“We put our heart and soul into making that car the most beautiful SUV in the world and, more importantly, making sure it’s an Aston,” he replied. “It will probably become the most important car in our history, because it will become the car that transforms us as we try to address all parts of the high-luxury market. It will target the U.S. and China, two critical markets and it will change the dynamics of the company.”

Palmer also noted that there is a global slowdown as it relates to the demand for cars but the market for SUVs like the DBX is expanding.

“Go back four years, before the Bentley (Bentayga) existed, and sales were nothing, the market was zero," he continued. "You might have said there was no demand for the Lamborghini or the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, or the model Ferrari is coming with. Clearly, the market grows along with the supply of (high-luxury SUVs).”

We will have to wait just a few short months for the SUV's release - it will be unveiled in December - but the teaser vid shown above dropped recently. Fans will have to make do that until then, but more media could leak or release officially ahead of the highly-anticipated debut.
