While right now there are few, if any, actually usable EV pickup trucks on the market, by the end of the year, the market will be bristling with them. And it's not just the legacy automakers. It also the newcomers to the market like Tesla's Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, Lordstown Endurance, Canoo, and Bollinger B2. All of these pickups are extremely innovative and targeting different parts of the markets. They span from worker's pickups through to luxury off-roading pickups. Some are very expensive, while others are designed to be affordable.

But if all these aren't enough, there's yet another all-new game in town, and many people may not have heard of it. It's Atlis Motor Vehicles' new electric pickup truck. It will be exciting to see which of these pickups becomes the next big craze and which will quietly crash and burn. Here is everything you need to know about Atlis' new upcoming electric pickup truck.

10 What Is Atlis Motor Vehicles?

Atlis was founded by Mark Hanchett. It was born in his garage as he worked to figure out how to make the perfect worker's pickup truck. It is now a startup car company, but it is a little difficult to find much information on them.

They have big dreams, aiming to make the world's best electric pickup for tradesmen. They are based in Mesa, Arizona, where other startups like Lucid Motors have chosen to base their operations (some are also based in California).

9 Fantastic Range

Atlis claims their upcoming pickup will come with a fantastic range of around 500 miles on a single charge. That is a massive range and only matched by Tesla's most expensive Cybertruck Tri-Motor edition.

If this is true, then it will easily beat the luxury Hummer EV pickup with its 350 miles, the Rivian R1T with its 300 miles (soon to be upgraded to 400), and better than the Cybertruck Single or Dual Motors.

8 Ludicrous Charging Times

Atlis is claiming that their pickup will be able to charge in 15 minutes. Some EVs can supercharge to 80% full in 15 or 20 minutes, but that last 20% of charge is always difficult and slow.

But on their website Atlis is saying nothing about that last 20%, they just say it will take 15 minutes to charge. Either way, that would be amazing. Not only that, they have ambitious plans further down the road, saying "a 5-minute charge tomorrow."

7 Top Speed

For a pickup truck, the Atlis is promising to come with an impressive top speed. It is expected to have a top speed of some 120 mph. This is in the ballpark of its competitors, with the Rivian R1T just a little faster at 125 mph.

That would also tie it with the CyberTruck Dual Motor, but just a little behind the Tri-Motor, which maxes out at 130 mph. It will certainly put them at the front of the pack.

6 Acceleration

The acceleration is a little lackluster for pickups of its class (not that it's really all that important to everyday driving). To reach 60 mph it will need to around 5 seconds.

That is behind the Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, and the Cybertruck Tri-Motor, all of which take about 3 seconds to get to that speed. It's similar to the Dual Motor with its 4.5-second acceleration timetable — it's also similar to the EVs from legacy carmakers.

5 A Pickup Designed For Workers

The Atlis XT pickup is being designed more for workers and tradesmen. So perhaps a better comparison would be the upcoming Bollinger B2 and Canoo pickup — both of which are designed more for tradesmen. While they are appealing to the same market, they are following very different design strategies.

The Hummer EV and Rivian are more focused on being luxury off-roading pickups. Being more of a worker's truck, the Atlis XT is designed with an emphasis on utility.

4 Cutting Edge Battery

Altis isn't exactly the only game in town claiming to be rethinking and re-engineering the batteries. Others like Tesla and Lucid Motors are saying much the same. But still, they are claiming to be finding ways to make some of the best EV batteries.

On their website, they claim, "Existing cell designs are standardized for consumer electronics... We are developing battery technology to meet the needs of the automotive industry, versus adopting a technology with limitations and accepting those limitations."

3 Additional Specs

Some of the other things we know about this pickup are that it is coming with regenerative braking and an independent air suspension with dynamic damping. It will also have 12-15 inches of ground clearance (worker's pickup truck or not, you will certainly be able to take it out off-roading).

Additionally, as a worker's pickup, it will have the option of being a dually in case one has heavy loads. The payload and power will also be configurable.

2 Lingering Questions

We have plenty of questions for which we don't yet have answers. Like, what is the price of this pickup? When will it be available? What is its towing capacity, and what is its payload capacity? Although given that it has a dual-wheel option, one can anticipate heavy loads.

We're sure to have answers to these down the road, but as the vehicle is still in development, it's possible even Atlis doesn't yet know all the answers to these questions for sure.

1 Merchandise For Sale

While Atlis Motors is still a way off from selling a pickup, that hasn't stopped them from making and selling their merchandise.

It may be a company you have never heard of before, but don't let that get in your way! You can buy Atlis labeled T-shirts, mugs, sweatshirts, and caps. A little odd for such an obscure startup that few have heard of and one that has not yet demonstrated itself past the conceptual stage!

In summary, the Atlis XT pickup truck is looking like it will be a very capable electric pickup truck.
