Audi has been creating some of the finest, well-made sedans for a number of years now, and the newest versions of the A5 might be some of the best they have made. The A5 Sportback is a car capable of giving an exciting drive without running out of fuel as quickly as some of its competitors.

10 New Tech
The new Audi A5 Sportback has had slight upgrades in tech, some of this new tech includes a heads-up display which projects warning messages or driving-related information from assistance systems and navigation system in full color onto the windscreen as well as a 360-degree camera displaying different views of the car’s immediate surroundings, with a bird’s eye view and 180-degree images of the front and rear.
There also an adaptive cruise control that maintains a pre-set distance to the vehicle ahead by automatically accelerating and braking. Audi's smartphone interface connects your smartphone to your Audi and transfers content to the display via USB.
9 Multiple Trims
As usual, Audi has created a good number of different trims for the Audi A5 allowing for those who have a little more money to splash out on some upgrades as well as giving customers more options in the process. Available trims are the Premium, which is the most basic, the Premium Plus, and the Prestige.
The main differences are an available 2.0-liter Quattro drivetrain for the higher-end models which is slightly more powerful and some added tech and exterior enhancements.

The A5 Sportback’s interior will be familiar to past Audi drivers. The minimalist dashboard keeps with the clean exterior design with high-quality materials. The Deluxe electronic climate control lets the driver and passengers control the temperature in three different zones inside the vehicle.
A combination trim, part leather part man-made leatherette, offering the comfort style of leather and maximum durability. Every model even has a four-way adjustable lumbar adjustment as standard.
7 High Performance
The A5's engine is a 2.0-liter with the 35 TFSI having 148 hp and the 40 TFSI with 178 hp and a more powerful 242 hp 45 TFSI. Most A5s come with a quick-shifting dual-clutch automatic gearbox, but a manual gearbox is also available on the 40 TFSI only. Depending on which trim you choose, there are four suspension options.
The Entry-level variant has the softest springs, named Comfort Dynamic, while the sportier models get a stiffer set-up, which you can add as an option on the base model. Then there’s the even stiffer S-level suspension that comes as standard on the S5.
6 Good MPG
Most German cars, especially sedans, offer a good level of fuel efficiency and luckily, the Audi A5 Sportback follows this trend too. As it is not as racy as the S or RS variants, you can easily achieve a good mpg. The EPA estimates for the new A5 Sportback state you should be able to achieve up to 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
These are good stats and for comparison, they are similar and in some cases slightly better than comparable BMWs yet, the A5 Sportback has a larger fuel tank than both the 3 and 5 Series BMWs.
5 Updated Exterior
As the years have progressed, Audi's design has become closer and closer to the higher performance S variants despite being cheaper models, and the A5 benefits from this with aggressive sporty lower grilles on either side of a large honeycomb grille.
LED headlights come as standard and lead to a contoured body with front curves towards the rear. The rear also has a subtle trunk spoiler and a diffuser and dual-exit exhausts to round things off. 18-inch wheels come as standard, with 19s being optional.
4 Handling
The A5 may not be an S- or RS-badged machine, but it is the basis for those and can still perform very well. Audi's famous all-wheel drive system works well to give a consistent and composed drive.
On the higher-spec models, the handling is further enhanced if you opt for the available sport rear differential as well as an adaptive suspension setup that can also be equipped. The A5 should be sharp and comfortable regardless of setup and options.
3 Cargo Space
The trunk of the A5 is a good size, with enough room to fit plenty of luggage and the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats drop to reveal a flat load bay if more space is needed but is still capable of carrying everyday items easily.
The A5 Sportback is a great option for the folding seats feature, especially as competitors like the aforementioned BMW 3 and 5 Series don't have this feature available. Legroom is also great too, as the A5 Sportback is fairly long, leaving plenty of room for both passengers and driver.
2 Good Safety Features
Audi offers a wide range of driver-assistance features, although it should be noted that some of these don't come as standard and are only available on the more expensive models. Some standard features include automated emergency braking with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning.
Some available options are adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The A5 comes standard with six airbags (along with optional rear side airbags) and even rain-sensing wipers.

Pricing for the A5 Sportback varies depending on which model variant you choose. The cost increases with each trim selection due to more advanced tech and potentially a higher-powered engine.
The price for the base Premium model begins at around $41,800, the next model up (Premium Plus) starts at $46,700 and finally, the Prestige model starts at $52,400.
