Audi new supercar concept will be all-electric and debuts at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Audi’s push for electrification begins now. In a new image teased from the German automaker, we get our first look at their brand new concept that promises to be "a supercar concept car with electric drive."

We’ve known for several months now that Audi has been working on an electric car, but we’ve had very few details to share about it. We still have very few details as Audi graced us with very little to go along with their teaser image. We know that the car is called the Audi PB18 e-tron (PB for Pebble Beach) and that the car’s styling comes from Audi’s new Malibu Design Loft.

Which, by the way--if you were gonna be an engineer working for Audi on new concept cars, a loft in Malibu sounds like a fantastic location to do it.

But we digress. The PB18 e-tron will also take some technology from Audi’s R18 e-tron quattro Le Mans racer, which is a three-time consecutive winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race from 2012 to 2014.

The R18 is a hybrid vehicle, however, with a 4.0-L turbodiesel V6. As the PB18 is going to be all-electric, we highly doubt that aspect will carry over, but we might see the same electric motors grace the new concept car.

Our first look at the PB18 e-tron will be at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance at 5 PM on August 23, 2018, on the Laguna Seca racetrack. After that, the car will be at “The Quail” on August 24 from 8 AM to 4 PM. PB18 will return to Laguna Seca August 25 from 8:30 AM to 6 PM, and then finally back to Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach for August 26th

Audi will be showing a whole bunch of classic and performance cars along with many other manufacturers.

As for what we can expect, the teaser image shows a low and rounded car with wheel fenders that are angled so aggressively they’re going up at a slight diagonal from the body. Thin LED headlights are presented in a modern style, but we can’t quite make out much else. We expect something like an updated R8 with some styling from LMP1.
