We took quite some space here at HotCars to talk about the Audi e-tron GT, and we regret none of it. This bold-looking electric car deserves all praise for its exceptional design.

As the brand's big entry into the luxury EV segment, the Audi e-tron GT is all sleek, long, low, and attractive. Marc Lichte, Head of Audi Design, even says this is the most beautiful car he has ever drawn. Of course, such a verdict is always subjective, but hardly anyone could dispute the powerful stance and attractiveness of the Audi e-tron GT.

Styling considered and noted, there's much more to the Audi e-tron GT than meets the eye. Named The World Performance Car of 2022, this electric grand tourer boasts impressive power and delivers a rather fun and thrilling performance. All of it comes from an innovative electric powertrain that seriously reaches the output and behavior of the traditional ICE counterparts.

So, today, we explore that electric powertrain that makes the Audi e-tron GT such a desirable vehicle worthy of the World Performance Car title for 2022.

Diving Into The Audi e-tron GT's Powertrain And Its Potent Dual Motors

First and foremost, the Audi e-tron GT's powertrain uses two electric motors (one for each axle) compared to its traditional counterparts that rely on clutch and differentials to allocate power to all wheels. These two motors work to deliver a combined output of 469 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque in the standard configuration. An overboost (with launch control, which we'll cover in more detail later) further increases this to 522 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque.

This configuration allows the Audi e-tron GT to zoom from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds and achieve the top speed of 152 mph. Now, this is already impressive as it is, but Audi wanted to spice things up even more, so it enhanced the power output for its RS version of the Audi e-tron GT. The dual motors in the RS trim produce between 590 and 637 horsepower (without and with overboost) and 612 lb-ft of torque. With such specs, the RS can go from 0-60 mph in an impressive 3.1 seconds and develop a top speed of 155 mph.

So, there's no doubt the Audi e-tron GT's powertrain is potent, regardless of the total output. The question is, what makes it so? Well, firstly, the 93.4 kWh battery pack powers the two electric motors. Then, there are some other innovative components we discuss below.

Let's start with the e-vectoring plus. This feature ensures excellent handling and stability in different situations by powering each axle individually. Such an all-wheel drive system ensures good traction and improves the driving dynamics.

Then, there's the Launch Control, an overboost we mentioned above that unlocks more power in the Audi e-tron GT's powertrain and helps it accelerate quicker. Add to the picture all-wheel steering that enhances maneuverability and stability at both low and high speeds, and you get a thrilling ride, to say the least.

Another exciting feature we want to mention is the precise slide control you can activate on slippery roads. Some of your other driving mode options include efficiency, comfort, and dynamic. On top of everything we reviewed so far that works in favor of high power output, acceleration, stability, and traction, the 93.4 kWh battery pack gives the Audi e-tron GT 238 miles of driving range.

What Else Compliments The Audi e-tron GT Alongside The Powertrain

It's pretty obvious that we admire the Audi e-tron GT's powertrain, from the design to the power output. But we also want to mention other significant features of this car and showcase just how complete this ride is.

Just like the sleek and attractive exterior, the interior hints at the impressive electric performance of this ride with its numerous road-focused (but also luxurious!) features. Some include a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch heads-up display, Wi-Fi, ambient interior lighting, heated and cooled front seats with massage functions, and more.

So, you can get a real sense of the Audi e-tron GT's powertrain from the inside, operating the various functions, enjoying the luxurious features, and reading all the important vehicle information on convenient displays. This will not only enhance your performance on the road but boost the entire driving experience.

All things considered, it's no wonder the Audi e-tron GT is the World Performance Car of the year. It all starts with its innovative and powerful electric powertrain, but other components and features play their part. In the end, it's the design in its entirety that makes one ride special.
