It will soon be all change at Audi. The German car manufacturer is one of the biggest when it comes to switching its focus towards hybrids and electrification. With this switch comes the final editions of two Audi icons that we are not prepared to bid farewell too. The final TT RS model is incoming, and Audi has also revealed the final R8 to feature an internal combustion engine, marking the end of a long and happy era.

The new R8 V10 GT RWD is the final swansong for Audi’s formidable supercar, first launched over a decade ago. Its V10 engine has always packed a punch, and it is certainly no different with this very special and final edition. Equally, the Audi TT RS is soon to bid farewell to us too. The German giant has revealed the Audi TT RS Iconic Edition. This not only celebrates 25 years of the TT, but also might be the final time that we can get our hands on a new, TT RS model. These are two very significant cars in the history of Audi.

The GT RWD Is An Emotional Goodbye To The Iconic Audi R8

The Audi R8 is perhaps the best car to come from Audi in modern times, and this final edition of the car is no doubt set to make us all incredible emotional. Under the hood of the latest and final Audi R8 is once again a 5.2-liter FSI naturally-aspirated V10 engine, in what is also described as a hardcore version of the famous V10 supercar. This sees the power of the Quattro model combined with the lighter overall package of the RWD, and this special edition produces 612 hp.

Less is certainly more in this case with the overall weight of the car around 3,461 lbs which sees a reduction of 44 lbs from the standard R8 V10 Coupe. Bucket seats and performance sports suspension add to the hardcore credentials, but it is the exterior where this car really shines. The R8 GT lettering on the rear is one such feature, as are the black emblems across it. But it is the carbon aerokit that is the biggest addition, showing off a front splitter, flics, side skirt covers and of course the large rear wing and diffuser. As a nod to the original R8 GT, you can get this truly special car in stunning matte Suzuka Gray. Audi will only make 333 units of the V10 GT RWD.

The TT RS Iconic Edition is another hugely emotional release from Audi. This is to be even more exclusive than the final Audi R8, with just 100 TT Iconic Editions to come from Audi. Celebrating 25 years since the first generation TT, the car is coming exclusively in Nardo Greay paint with bespoke 20-inch glossy black wheels. This super spicy Audi TT will feature the same 2.5-liter turbocharged TFSI engine that the TT RS has, and that produces 395 hp.

Transmission wise, the TT RS features Quattro all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S Tronic automatic transmission, one of the best transmissions Audi has ever made. Its 0-62 time will be just 3.7 seconds and the car will top out at 174 mph. Other features that set this car apart from a standard TT RS include the OLED taillights and the “Iconic edition” lettering that is on the quarter glass. The aero kit also sets the car apart, with a fixed carbon wing at the rear, a front splitter and blades as well as side flics on the apron at the front.

Back to the R8 V10, the interior also features homages to the original R8 GT. Black and red features inside, including red belts only available on that 2010 R8 GT. Within the interior of the TT Iconic, two-tone RS sport seats stand out, with exclusive “Iconic Edition” embroidery embedded in the black Alcantara of those seats. Audi has ensured that each of these special editions has plenty of highlights.
