Ford Australia is getting its own custom Mustang variant with 700 horsepower and unique down under styling.

The Aussies don’t appear to be receiving the new GT500 with its 760-horsepower supercharged engine, but they’re at least getting the next best thing: a custom Mustang GT with a supercharged 5.0-L that puts down 700 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque.

If those numbers sound familiar to you, that’s because it’s the exact same amount that the Roush-tuned Mustang GT gets after being fitted with one of their supercharger kits. Ford Performance is sending a number of those kits to Australia to help convert Mustang GTs into the new R-Spec model with the help of Aussie tuner Herrod Performance.

In addition to the supercharger, each R-Spec Mustang comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and a proper ball-knob shifter. A numbered plaque is placed on each engine block as well as inside the cabin to ensure a customer's place in the R-Spec pecking order.

R-Spec Mustangs also get Ford's MagneRide magnetic suspension, adjustable stabilizer bars, and black-painted 19-inch Ford Performance wheels with matching lug nuts. Those wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires for maximum grip.

Herrod Performance provides the active cat-back exhaust and aftermarket rear spoiler. Grille, badging, hood vents, top and side stripes, side mirrors, and quad exhaust tips are all painted black in solidarity with the wheels.

Available in Grabber Lime, orange, white, or blue, the Ford Mustang R-Spec is limited to 500 units and will only be for the Australian market. However, North American buyers can get a very similar vehicle from Roush that can also be ordered from a Ford dealer and come with a warranty, or you can shop Ford Performance to make a similar car yourself.

Pricing wasn’t announced, but orders are available now for Australian customers. With just 500 units in this limited run, expect them all to go pretty quick.
