Shawn and his AutotopiaLA teamShawn and his AutotopiaLA team are one of the most popular automotive YouTube channels on the platform. He has amassed over 200k subscribers, and his videos are an absolute treat for gearheads all over the world, showcasing amazing classic cars, custom builds, and resto-mods. And this car we have here is another absolute gem. This is an absolutely beautiful Shelby Daytona Coupe that has been overhauled by Chip Foose, and was even seen on the TV show “Overhaulin”. It’s owned by Marissa De Rosa Campbell of Laguna Beach and is an absolutely exquisite piece of machinery.

Much Removed From Original

The car actually started out as a Superformance build, a company that is run by Shawn’s friend Doug. But it has now become something so much more than what it was originally. It was originally a 2005 Superformance Brock, designed by Peter Brook who designed the original Daytona Coupe, and then it ended up on Chip Foose’s “Overhaulin” show in 2009. And that overhaul saw it gain a Roush, re-powered engine as part of the overhaul, a Roush 427 small block to be exact.

And it sounds incredible, Doug saying it is perhaps the best sounding Daytona Coupe out there thanks to all the overhauling that was done to the car. The headers are extraordinary, going two into one, two into one again, through an X-pipe and then back out of the car with twin-exhaust side pipes. Foose Memphis wheels are on the car, a tribute to the “Gone In 60 Seconds” Eleanor car and these were one-off wheels especially done for this Daytona Coupe.

A Repaint With A Difference

And it was originally in a grey with the stripes before being painted into an altered Guardsman Blue with white stripes and a pink edge to those stripes. It even has modified exterior elements, such as the side vents being modified and a whole new opening on the front of the car, and a split radiator opening rather than a single one, the original prototype actually being a splint vent. It even has Jaguar E-Type bumpers on the front, Shawn agreeing so many elements remind him of the fabled British car.

Not many of us would take such liberties with a classic icon, but the result speaks for itself.
