Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction this year is shaping up to be one for the ages, especially now that a one-of-a-kind Chevrolet Camaro drag racer has been added to the slate. The Camaro is a COPO build completed by John Force and will be auctioned off on January 17th with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.

Blow On It For Luck

At the heart of this customized Camaro is what Barrett-Jackson calls a "revised version" of an LSX V8, though that phrasing comes across as pretty comical given the 2.65-liter supercharger bolted on top of custom cylinder heads that require a fully custom hood scoop in order for it to clear.

Not In Disguise

No one is about to buy this car and think they're going to surprise other muscle car fanatics at the stop light. This COPO Chevy is not road-legal and will be sold as such on its bill of sale, making it designated for track use only. And speaking of the track, other performance-enhancing goodies include a carbon-fiber air intake, dual lightweight batteries, a parachute (complete with COPO flag), and a quick-change coupling for the engine.

More Special Than Special

Chevy's COPO is pretty special, with only 69 vehicles produced per year since 2012. But this John Force Edition Camaro is even more special, a one-off that won't be included in that count. The signature on the glove box is but the final touch on a design that includes a black and silver paint job and an American flag on the hood, as well interior details shown in the photo above. The best part, though? Lot 3004 is offered at No Reserve with all the proceeds going to Donors Choose, a charity "helping bring teachers’ and students’ dreams to life in classrooms across the U.S."
