Up for auction this month at the Barrett-Jackson show in Scottsdale, Arizona is this custom 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback. Dubbed "Toxic 66," she's won multiple awards, including Best Street Machine, Best in Class, Outstanding Interior and Best Body and Paint. She's listed as lot # 1310.1 and is offered with no reserve so someone is definitely getting the toxic treatment. The detail work on this car is quite extensive with a number of performance and luxury features. In fact, the only thing that's still left of the original '66 Mustang underneath is a 2 foot piece of the roof!

A Toxic Mustang Indeed!

Let's start with the chassis and body before turning to the naughty bits. The chassis is a 2" by 3" custom box frame raised 3" so the rear tub can fit. She features a full integrated roll cage, HQ Series Shockwave air ride suspension, Baer 6 piston calipers with 13" Corvette rotors in front and 14" in the rear. She's fitted with 18" ZE forged rims with mammoth Mickey Thompson street drag radials.

On the outside, the bumpers were fit into the body panels with one piece front fenders, headlights and lower spoiler, and a custom rear valence with integral LED lights. The quarter panel lips were rolled for the rear tub, side windows were removed, and a boxed hood was added. The interior has a custom dash with clean looking gauges, full length center console with air-ride controls, leather seats, and push button start with security system. You'll need it!

Toxic 66 gets its motivation from a blown, bored and stroked 408 Ford Windsor with Canfield aluminum heads, 8-71 BDS blower, custom fuel injection, custom upper and lower intakes, JE pistons, billet fan shroud and fan, and Icebox radiator. It's also been outfitted with a FAST EFI control system, custom stainless headers and a full length 3" exhaust. A Ford 4R70W automatic transmission handles shifting duties and sends the power rearward through a custom driveshaft to a Ford narrowed 9 inch rear end with 31-spline axles and a Detroit Locker.

Check It Out For Yourself

Interested? I know I am. As for a presale estimate, it's hard to determine with one-off builds such as these due to the extensive customization. Many people on the auction circuit are more concerned with originality for investment purposes but it'll probably go for a lot less than the money put into it so their loss can be your gain. Buckle up.
