Drag racing is a brilliant and mostly pure form of motorsport. It involves two very fast cars going head-to-head to see who is the fastest. And usually, the contest sees the two cars go head-to-head down the 1/4-mile. And at the minute, there are a lot of internal combustion vs electric power drag races. Such as this one on the Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel, showing a 1,200 hp Cadillac CTS-V go against a 1,000 hp Tesla Model S Plaid.

A Battle Of Gasoline Vs Battery

The video states that this was all filmed in the Heavyweight Class at the Street Car Takeover in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is certainly an interesting battle, as we all know just how fast the Model S Plaid is off the line and in a drag race.

The first race against the Model S Plaid shows a different CTS-V, as the main focus point is the orange one we see later that belongs to Felicia Cherisse Smith. Before the first race, the two cars warm up their tires, which is easier in the Cadillac, and then line up for the start. And off the line the Model S Plaid gets the better launch as expected but the CTS-V tries its best. In the end, the Model S Plaid won with a pass time of 9.389 seconds versus the 10.065 of the CTS-V.

This isn’t all we get to see, though. The video then shows Felicia in her CTS-V, the first one, which sees her take on the challenge against a Dodge Challenger. While we had no power figures for the earlier, white CTS-V, we do know that Felicia's car produces 1,200 hp. This is an easy win for the CTS-V in the end as it blitzes the start to win with a time of 9.006 seconds against the 9.724 seconds of the Dodge.

Ready For The Heavyweight Final

The CTS-V with Felicia at the wheel is able to get itself into the heavyweight final. And this time it is against the Model S Plaid that we saw earlier. This certainly has the potential for a great race, and as expected at the start the Tesla puts its power down well, but so does the CTS-V.

The two cars are very, very close when they get to the end of the run, but it is Felicia and her CTS-V that wins with a pass time of 9.001 seconds, barely four-tenths quicker than the Model S Plaid which did the 1/4-mile in just 9.436 seconds.
