Hyundai Motor Company just revealed images of the HDC-6 NEPTUNE, a hydrogen fuel-cell electric-powered truck, which is set to make its debut at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in Atlanta, Georgia running from October 28th to the 31st. They'll also take the wraps off the Hyundai Translead Nitro ThermoTech, an eco-friendly, high-performance refrigerated trailer concept. Based on the images above and below, sign me up as teased.

As far as renderings go, it doesn't give away a whole lot. Hyundai was kind enough, however, to fill in the blanks re the technology, innovation, design, and their future fuel-cell electric-powered vehicle efforts specifically on the commercial front. The hydrogen fuel-cell electric-powered HDC-6 NEPTUNE derives its name from the Roman God of the Seas - the greatest source of hydrogen fuel on Earth. Armed with cutting-edge technology and Art Deco design queues, the Hyundai team set out to fuse form and function into a coherent whole. While I would expect a concept car bound for the personal sports car or commuter car market to contain such aggressive styling, I give Hyundai credit for bringing such brio to the commercial space. It looks like they've taken a page straight out of the Elon Musk playbook with his P.T. Barnum rollout of the design and unveiling of the Tesla Semi and pickup trucks.

Hyundai has made some big investments in alternative technologies reinforcing its vision to develop zero-emissions vehicles. The company has been quite aggressive in their pursuit of fuel-cell EV's with the second-generation NEXO and Xcient fuel-cell truck also in the market. Plus, they continue to fine-tune the tech under the hood to one-day roll it out to more models and markets. The HDC-6 NEPTUNE and Translead Nitro ThermoTech are the two most recent parts of that strategy.

Edward Lee, Hyundai's Head of the Commercial Vehicle Business Division, notes that Hyundai has made great strides in developing fuel-cell technologies for both the consumer and commercial end of the market. Hyundai's efforts in the commercial space, in particular, are a conscious one as the commercial vehicle sector has been without a solution to the pressing needs of efficiency, the environment and decarbonization. The HDC-6 NEPTUNE and Translead Nitro ThermoTech were created with those objectives in mind.

Be sure to check out the big reveal next week. I'm itching to see what the finished product looks like! Buckle up.
