Let’s face it, the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye has proven to be the fastest rear-wheel-drive American muscle car on the drag strip. Pushing 797 hp stock, the Redeye draws chills everywhere it sprints. Ron of MotorTube just released another exciting video of the fastest Hellcat Redeye in the world at the Lapeer International Dragway.

“Behind me, we have one of the fastest Redeyes in the world. The fastest time it’s ran was 8.40 at 164 mph. The car belongs to my buddy Jim,” Ron said.

Jim’s Hellcat Redeye is not the fastest for no reason. Under the hood, it packs a 426 BES block. Tony Bischoff and BES Racing Engines developed this block. It’s a globally acclaimed block perfect for street and drag racing.

The Most Professional, Custom, And Top-Quality Engine Hellcat Redeye Setup

The Hellcat Redeye also comes with Thitek heads, a twin-turbo 78 Garrett with a massive intercooler, custom-made Hogan’s Intake, and a four-fuel system.

“Here’s a little unique thing. What we decided to do is we have the only turbo car in the world that has zoomies. But um, it’s actually for two functions. One, the shorter that your exhaust pipe is, the less the turbo lag you have. So, where the intercooler meets the turbo is five inches, and where the turbos come out to here is only 16 inches,” Jim revealed.

The engine bay setup is pretty cool, and according to Jim, also very functional. Jim has put a lot of effort into his race car setup to ensure that everything is professional and of top quality.

On the exterior, he’s taken out the sunroof and replaced it with a carbon fiber alternative, same with the doors and the decklid. As a result, Jim saved 239 pounds between the doors, the roof, and the deck lid. Currently, the car weighs 3,923 pounds compared to a stock Hellcat Redeye that weighs 4,700 pounds.

Jim also took out all the computers and swapped them for a Holley. On the dash, he’s got a Holley 12.5-inch dash. The Hellcat Redeye also has an Alcantara steering wheel, with a trans brake and a bump box.

“If you guys have a Hellcat, you know it’s very hard to tune them because the eight computers in there always are trying to fight one another to protect themselves. We finally had enough and went with the Holley."

The Hellcat also has a rare fire suppression system. Jim has set the car on fire twice, and this system comes as a contingency measure from experience. If the car gets past 190 degrees, the sensors set off the Halon system.

The drag car also comes with a $6,000 chiller that chills the engine and the transmission between passes. The chiller that works like a refrigerator can take the engine from 240 degrees to 40 degrees after a pass. With this, he can go for as many passes without worrying about the heat cycle.

Jim has spent over $300,000 on mods, without the car. That’s five setups. Two transmissions and three engines.

At the event, Jim went for his first pass and drives back to his trailer to cool down and tune it back for the second round. On the second pass, he did an 8.33 at 164 miles, which is the best time he’s done so far.
