Every year, automotive manufacturers release a couple of concept cars that help set the stage for future innovations. Meanwhile, high-end luxury and sports car builders create cars that seem like concepts to the rest of humanity—so when brands like Bentley unveil concept cars, they seem to offer a whole different kind of futuristic vision. Case in point is the Bentley EXP 100 GT concept, which just won the "Best Concept Car" trophy at the GQ Car Awards.

Bentley revealed the EXP 100 GT concept on July 10, 2019, exactly one century after the company's founding. The future-facing design, from the unbelievable interior to the sleek exterior, is supposed to represent a vision of how drivers will engage in grand touring in the year 2035. The car measures a mammoth 19 feet long, with six-foot long doors that hinge upwards. Details like the air circulation system help to keep the interior smelling as fresh as nature, without all the unwanted scents of the city creeping in. The passenger compartment can be enjoyed in a wide range of modes, from Capture and Re-Live, which records and replays the sights and sounds of a drive, to Cocoon, which keeps the interior more quiet and peaceful.

The EXP 100 GT is yet another all-electric concept, which makes sense given the future of sustainability in the automotive industry. GQ Magazine cites the concept's impressive stats: despite the size, the car's "batteries power four motors that propel this 21st-century land-based super yacht to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 186mph." Meanwhile, the "high-density batteries will offer a range of 435 miles fully charged, while an 80 percent capacity recharge will take just 15 minutes."  Other electric concepts also tallied up wins, including Audi's off-roading EV, the AI:Trail, as well as the Pininfarina Battista battery-powered supercar.
