Boasting the most luxurious interior in Bentley's history, the third-generation Flying Spur is a supercar in opulent sedan form. Behind its dynamics is the iconic W12 engine delivering 626 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. While we love the W12 mill, we do miss the V8 engine version. Seemingly an answered prayer to some clients, the Bentley Flying Spur is now available as a V8 model.

A Driver-Centric Flying Spur

The Bentley Flying Spur W12 is definitely a luxurious beast that impressed even Supercar Blondie. But as the research has uncovered, more and more target customers are preferring to drive than to be chauffeur-driven. Thus, there's the need to offer a version of the Flying Super that is driver-centric.

Bentley's answer to this is the Flying Spur V8. In this configuration, the Flying Spur comes loaded with a 4.0-liter, twin turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 542 hp of top output and 568 lb-ft of maximum torque. It allows the Flying Spur to sprint from nil to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 198 mph.

Greater Agility, Better Handling

Since the new Bentley Flying Spur V8 weighs around 220 lbs lighter than its W12 counterpart, it feels more agile and more responsive during a drive. Helping make the Flying Spur V8 more agile are a number of standard features such Adaptive Air Suspension, Drive Dynamics Control, Electric Steering, and Torque Vectoring by Brake.

Handling is taken to another level with the installation of front and rear hollow, lightweight anti-roll bars. If customers want more, they can add more agile-boosting elements such as the Bentley Dynamic Ride active anti-roll technology and Electronic All-Wheel Steering.

Cylinder Deactivation Under Light Loads

When the Bentley Flying Spur V8 is operating under light loads – the required torque is below 239 lb-ft and engine speed is under 3,000 rpm – four of the eight cylinders shut down. This reduces fuel consumption by 16%, thereby allowing the Flying Spur to travel greater distances before refueling.

The new Flying Spur V8 features quad exhaust finishers that come standard and can be equipped with new optional 22” gloss black Mulliner Driving Specification wheels.
