Whether speeding through a movie set or racking up miles on an actual track, many stars from movies, TV, music, and sports exhibit a passion for not only cars but the world of racing. Some have entered (and won)  actual competitions while others own such impressive automobile collections that it's not hard to imagine them dashing out of their driveway directly to the racetrack for a few laps.

From the big screen to the starting line, from the football field to the checkered flag, here are some celebrities who could hold their own against any of the greatest professional racers.

10 Patrick Dempsey

Like many successful actors, Patrick Dempsey sports an extensive car collection that includes an impressive array of Porsches, Ferraris, Mercedes, and more. But instead of keeping them in his garage or using his assortment of high-powered machines for more mundane activities, Dempsey actually puts his money where his mouth is.

He's a co-owner of the FIA World Endurance Championship team and has raced in numerous events. It's clear that if he ever decided to leave Hollywood behind, the actor otherwise known as "McDreamy" has the chops to be a professional racer full-time.

9 Dax Shepard

An avowed gearhead, the new host of Top Gear America owns a bevy of hot rods he modifies in his spare time. His love of classic cars runs deep. It can be seen both in real life and in Hollywood blockbusters like the 2012 movie Hit and Run, which Shepard wrote and co-directed.

When he's not hosting a successful podcast, acting in hit sitcoms, or presenting TV game shows, his dedication to off-roading is often on full display. It even leads to the occasional gnarly injury.

8 Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner's life has been filled with so many groundbreaking, exciting, and intriguing moments it's easy to forget that she used to be a race car driver. Even though she left that life behind for the glitz of Hollywood and reality TV, she's still a motorhead at heart.

Caitlyn's car collection rivals her daughter's and she's frequently spotted out-and-about behind the wheel of something vintage and classic. It's clear that behind all of the gold medals, magazine covers, and lifetime achievement awards, Caitlyn Jenner could hold her own against some of the world's best professional racers.

7 Vin Diesel

After eight Fast and Furious movies, it's no surprise Vin Diesel is at home behind the wheel on-screen and off. While Diesel lets a professional stunt team handle a lot of the dangerous work during production, he's been known to actually showcase his own driving abilities while the cameras are rolling.

And if his real-life abilities are anything like what he's capable of on the big screen, Diesel would fit in nicely in the world of professional racing. Fans can't wait to see what kind of stunts, tricks, and skills Diesel and his on-screen alter ego Dominic Toretto boast and when the latest entry of the saga, F9, hits theaters.

6 John Cena

Star of the big screen and the wrestling ring, Jon Cena has big muscles, a bigger personality, and a widely-known love of cars. What's not as publicized, however, is that he also can handle his own on the racetrack.

He's been the honorary pace car driver at the Indianapolis 500 and has participated in celebrity races. A true athlete through-and-through, John Cena might be even more intimidating on the racetrack than he is in the wrestling ring.

5 John Elway

One of those competitions that John Cena raced in? John Elway actually won it. Elway spent his career stifling opposing defenses only to move on to leaving his racing competition in the dust.

The Super Bowl champ, MVP, and Denver Broncos team president is a legend in the world of sports and noted car aficionado. This is evidenced by him owning a classic 1992 Dodge Viper. If he ever decided to leave his team's front office for a racecar cockpit, anyone who came up against him would surely be left in a cloud of dust.

4 Jerry Seinfeld

A noted Porsche enthusiast, Seinfeld owns an auto collection whose fame might rival that of the comedian himself. Seinfeld made millions off his classic sitcom, and he levied a lot of that wealth into an impressive array of vintage and rare cars.

Some of them, in fact, are made for the track and are among the fastest and most powerful models Porsche ever produced. Even the most decorated racers might think twice about racing against Seinfeld if he showed up at the starting line.

3 Jay Leno

Perhaps the world's most famous car collector, it's safe to say that Leno has owned, or at least driven, just about every car that has ever been produced.

Whether driving through Los Angeles traffic or showing off his latest purchase on Jay Leno's Garage, Leno is the proud owner of some of the world's fastest cars. He's spent years putting on a jumpsuit and showing off his driving abilities. If he ever decided to leave the TV world behind, a transition to racing would surely be at the top of his bucket list.

2 Matt LeBlanc

Everyone's favorite 90s sitcom goofball, LeBlanc perhaps became even more famous (if that's even possible) as the first American host of British Top Gear.  A dedicated fan of Formula 1, LeBlanc clearly has the knowledge and the passion to cut it as a professional driver.

If he ever decides to take up a career on the track, fans of Friends might be surprised to find LeBlanc has mad skills both in front of the camera and behind the wheel.

1 Alfonso Ribeiro

Maybe best known for his iconic "Carlton dance," many people might not know that Alfonso Ribeiro has been winning races for more than twenty-five years. While he got famous acting alongside Will Smith in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ribeiro has repeatedly distinguished himself as one of the best celebrity racers around.

Fans might crack up at his antics on the screen, but his abilities on the track are nothing to joke about. An accomplished actor, dancer, and driver, Alfonso Ribeiro is maybe Hollywood's biggest triple threat.
