Electric vehicles have been on a steady rise ever since Tesla broke the ice several years back, and nowadays, pretty much every car company that seeks a prosperous future has begun to release their own takes on battery-powered cars. The years to come will certainly offer plenty of variety for consumers looking for more eco-friendly daily drivers, in the form of sedans, SUVs, and even trucks.

Let's take a look at some of the best 2022 electric cars set to launch.

This isn’t Audi’s first rodeo when it comes to electric vehicles, as we’ve already seen the release of great competitors such as the e-tron and e-tron gt. This time, however, Audi has turned one of their most successful and recognized sedans into its very own electric model: the A6 e-tron. Built off of a scalable Premium Platform Electric that can be modified to accommodate more vehicles in the future, the A6 e-tron will offer about 400 miles per charge, with power coming from two electric motors that put out a total of 469-hp.

If there’s one thing Ford does right, its trucks. Their F-series pickup lineup has been a bestseller in the US for several decades, and now Ford has taken the only logical step as they seek to release an electric variant of their most successful truck to date. The Ford F-150 Lightning that could hit the market as soon as May, offers everything the normal petrol-powered F-150 does: great drivability and practicality, impressive towing capacity and good looks to go with it.

What's more, the F-150 Lightning’s dual-motor setup puts out 563-hp and almost 800 lb-ft of torque, which is truly mind-boggling. RWD variants are expected to have 230 miles of range, while AWD models boost that up to 300 miles.

Mercedes is another automotive giant that has slowly been introducing electric variants to its lineup in recent years, and they’ve already seen success with models such as the EQC in Europe. The EQE comes in as a midsize sedan which is part of Mercedes’ E lineup, and it comes as a pretty much ideal daily driver. Its sleek design is simple yet handsome, and performance is decent even though it's not the EQE’s goal. The launch model will come with a single motor putting out 288-hp, and further ahead a dual-motor version with about 400-hp will also be released. Autonomy sits at an impressive 400 miles of range, Mercedes claims.

Taking a step back from car companies that already have a reputation, let's look at a couple of interesting models proposed by Bollinger, a Detroit-based company looking to be one of the first to introduce trucks to the electric market. The B1 is an SUV whereas the B2 is an actual truck, but both offer pretty much the same package in terms of performance.

Bollinger’s robust and unorthodox styling cues may not be appealing to everybody, but nobody can deny its impressive numbers. Both vehicles put out a claimed 614-hp with about 200 miles of range. They also come equipped with plenty of features that make them true offroaders, such as incredible clearance, locking differentials and insanely capable suspension.

Expected to hit the market during the fall of 2022 under the 2023 production label, the Nissan Ariya is an all-new crossover with quite an interesting proposal in terms of design and performance. Base models are driven from the front wheels, with an extended range of up to 300 miles, coming from a 238-hp electric motor. There’s also a top of the range model with All-Wheel-Drive and 389-hp that should definitely be considered by those that want to have a little more fun, though it should be noted that autonomy is reduced to 265 miles in this model.

Overall, 2022 is sure to be a great year for the Automotive Industry, as we expect to see the release of several competitive electric vehicles. Only time will tell which car companies will fight their way to the pinnacle of the electric market; it’s anyone’s game.
