The 200,000-mile mark presents a challenge that very few cars can overcome, despite their owners' best efforts. To hit this kind of mileage, the car needs to be both well driven and regularly maintained, and those cars that manage this enjoy the pride and praise of their owners.

\Wwe're compiling the list of the most durable and reliable cars you can buy based on a 2018 iSeeCars study conducted on a sample of 13.8 million cars. Surprising to some, a large portion of the cars decorating this list belongs to midsize or large SUV segments, with plenty of seating area and powerful, often thirsty engines. Yet, one thing is sure, of all the cars you can buy, the cars on this list are likely to stay with you the longest.

10 2019 Toyota Sequoia

It comes as no surprise that Toyota would find itself on this list. The company again boasts its trademark reliability and durability in the form of the new spacious and handy Sequoia. Although the car will not stagger with luxuriousness, technology, or even gas mileage for that matter, it will run and keep running until you eventually get sick of it.

Housing a powerful 381-horsepower V8, the Sequoia also provides a decent dose of power to the wheels. While doing so, it will provide surprisingly abundant safety equipment and plenty of seating comfort. The car is so durable that iSeeCars ranks it as number one based on the number of models that had managed to exceed 200,000 miles—as many as 7.4%.

9 2019 Chevrolet Suburban

Every powertrain offered in the new Suburban features a beastly V8. While the standard one produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, the 6.2L alternative will bump that power output to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of twist. It's also one of the most comfortable cruisers for the size, offering plenty of room for the passengers. Starting at roughly $50,000, the Suburban is among the best high-end large SUVs, with a decent fuel economy and impressive performance.

Not only that, but the car will easily keep running until the odometer reaches 200,000 miles, as it ranks second on the 2018 iSeeCars study based on the number of vehicles of each model to reach two-hundred thousand miles in their lifetime.

8 2019 Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner is a midsize SUV that disappoints in almost every feature, from its comfort, materials, and fuel consumption, to technology features. However, what it lacks in luxury, it more than makes up for in durability, especially when taken out and applied off-road.

The car is as sturdy as can be, and the iSeeCars study also places it among the highest-ranking cars to achieve the 200,000-mile threshold. According to the study, 3.9% of all purchased models of the 4Runner will surpass this mileage. Also featuring a solid 4.0L V6, with a gas consumption of 17 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway, we'd argue the 4Runner's reliability and performance makes it more than worth the $34,000 starting price tag.

7 2019 Toyota Tacoma

The newest Tacoma puts an emphasis on off-road performance, offering the remarkable "Pro" package that bumps the horsepower output from the measly 159 in the starting version to 278 horsepower, courtesy of a V6 engine. The Tacoma simultaneously earns a spot among the most capable and most durable off-roaders in the world. An iSeeCars study ranks it number 10 among cars most suitable to exceed the 200,000-mile threshold, with 2.6% of models included in the study being able to surpass this mileage.

6 2019 Honda Odyssey

Despite its bland design, the Odyssey is actually one of the best Japanese cars you can currently buy. Safety features, ample seating and cargo room, and comfort place it at the very top of its minivan segment.

It also drives surprisingly well. The new Odyssey had much to improve from the earlier models, and now it also manages to distinguish itself as the most enduring minivan out there, with 2.5% of the models exceeding the 200,000-mile threshold according to the 2018 iSeeCars study.

Powering it is a 280-horsepower V6 that scores a nice 19 mpg in the city and an even better 28 mpg on the highway. Considering it's $30,000 price tag and the fact that it will easily seat at least 7, the new Odyssey is a bargain.

5 2019 Ford Expedition

Undoubtedly one of the best large SUVs to come out of the USA recently, this car combines a supreme and upscale cabin experience with top-notch all-terrain performance. The most stellar attribute of the new Expedition's cabin is its spaciousness, which equally applies to the seating and cargo areas.

The story does not end there, as the Expedition is also a car that will never let you down. It's not on this list by accident. Having fallen behind only one other car in the 2018 iSeeCars study, the Explorer is tied for second place with 5% of purchased vehicles to exceed the 200,000-mile mark.

Sleek and ready for anything you can throw at it, the new Expedition also features a powerful 375-horsepower V6. What's more, being able to tow up to 9300 lbs with ease, you can be sure that the new and durable Expedition will be in it for the long haul—quite literally.

4 2019 Highlander

A comfortable ride and an upscale spacious interior. However, the area where it really shines is in its predicted reliability rating and durability, which is why it's been included on the iSeeCars list of the most reliable cars poised to overcome the 200 000 mile mark.

Inside the hood, you will find a decently powered 3.5L V6 paired with three electric motors that generate a combined power output of 306 horsepower on all four wheels. This means two things for the Highlander; a comfortable and sporty ride that aptly adjusts to both tarmac and off-road use, and a very desirable gas mileage.

According to the study, 3.1% of Highlander Hybrid models happily exceed the 200,000-mile threshold, making the car one of the most capable and durable offroaders you can get for an affordable $36,971 starting price.

3 2019 Honda Accord

We've already mentioned the accord's ability to affordably balance luxury with style and performance Accord in numerous articles for its renowned luxury performance, and features at the price range. And now we also have to give it props for being one of the most reliable cars out there, boasting a ubiquity matched only by brands like Toyota.

It's extremely cheap to maintain and remarkably reliable, while it's 192-horsepower base engine also provides an exciting dose of performance. It excels in every feature of a well-versed midsize sedan.

2 2020 GMC Yukon XL

Another large, high profile American SUV, the Yukon XL will easily seat at least 7 people while simultaneously boasting incredible offroad performance. Piling on to its virtues, the Yukon ranks number 3 in the iSeeCars study, with as many as 4% models in excess of 200,000 miles on the meter.

The cons of purchasing one of these lies in its problematic cargo area and an uncomfortable ride, courtesy of the stiff suspension. However, the fact that it's on this list means that these models are some of the most durable and long-standing out there, makes this full-scale SUV more than worth the initial $49,500 investment. Interestingly, the XL ranked much higher in the study, with the regular Yukon falling behind 5 places.

1 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe

It's curious how yet another large SUV has managed to find itself among the most enduring car models on the market. Powered by the same enormous V8 found in the Chevy Suburban—both options are identical—the Tahoe is a surprisingly quiet and comfortable large-scale SUV that's not shy on power.

A tenth of a percent keeps it below the Toyota 4Runner in terms of models that exceeded the infamous 200,000-mile mark, yet it more than makes up for the difference by providing a much nicer ride and more power at the gas pedal. Going for one of these today will set you back at least $47,900, which is admittedly a bargain of a price considering the car will take you at least 10 times around the globe in terms of mileage.
