Countless Renaissance masterpieces, high fashion, delicious food, and beautiful cars. That's all that Italy is about. And when it comes to automobiles, the whole world knows that Italians put their soul and emotions into the design process. And the result is something rather stunning.

In fact, we'd argue that Italy has probably produced some of the most beautiful cars in the whole history of the car industry. Sure, U.S., Japan, and Germany had their share of gorgeous cars, but nothing compares to Italian V12s, curvy lines, and outrageous power. After all, most of us grew up with Ferrari and Lamborghini posters on our bedroom walls. But it's not all about them. In short, they stand alone. Here are 10 magnificent Italian sports cars that aren't a Lamborghini or Ferrari.

10 Lancia Delta Integrale

Remember the huge trend of four-wheel-drive cars back in the '80s? Started by Audi, and then followed by Porsche, Ford, VW, and so on. But, one car that's truly forgotten is the Lancia Delta. The pleasure of driving it doesn't compare even with the Audi Quattro.

But that's not all. Although most people tend to forget what Lancia used to be pre-Fiat days, the square-edged hatchback, the Lancia won six World Rally Championships and inspired a whole generation of hot-hatchers. The Delta Integrale featured a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, that delivered 212 horsepower. But the car isn't so much about its specs, as much as it is about the freeing and wild feelings it offers.

9 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce

The term "classic" has been overused to the point where it's difficult to even define what it means. However, we think it's an object, or in this case a car, that isn't affected by the current fashion trends. And the Pininfarina-designed Alfa Romeo Spider definitely is one of them.

The Alfa Spider was launched in 1966 at the Turin Motor Show and was named "Duetto" because of its two seats. Every Duetto featured a 1.6-liter engine, with a top speed of 110mph. But with the five-speed gearbox and all-wheel disc brakes, the Alfa was truly ahead of its time. Only in 1969, its name was changed to Spider Veloce, paying homage to the legendary 1750 Super Sport from the '30s.

8 De Tomaso Pantera

If there'd be research available, we're pretty sure most of the car enthusiasts would say they grew up with this car on their bedroom wall. After all, just saying the name of this car can weaken someone's knees. De Tomaso Pantera was designed by Tom Tjaarda and featured a 5.8 liter Ford V8 engine which gave it all the power it needed.

Especially if you're looking for an Italian classic, but all the Ferraris and Lambos are too obvious, the Pantera of the same era, will truly make you stand in the crowd. And combined with American muscle car performance, you truly need nothing more.

7 Maserati MC12

There's nothing quite like the Maserati MC12. Powered by Enzo Ferrari's V12 engine, it can make you forget your whole identity. Only because you find another identity in there, the one where you're one with the car you're driving, and you're completely free and joyful.

After all, that's the real power of a great supercar. But if you prefer numbers, let us start. 623 horsepower, 481 lb-ft of torque, 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph. Is that enough for you? Unfortunately, the only bad thing about this car is that it costs almost $1 million. Unbearable.

6 Iso Grifo

Sometimes the only thing one can wish is to own an Iso Grifo. But considering their hefty rise in value lately, that seems like a dream that's never going to come true. Nevertheless, once you see an Iso Grifo you'll understand what we're talking about.

First of all, it's an extremely rare car. Only 400 of them were built. Moreover, the Grifo was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who was working for Bertone at that time. And the engineering part was handled by Bizarrini, the guy behind the 250 GTO. Could it get more perfect, you ask? Well, it has a V8 engine under the bonnet.

We already talked about the Iso Grifo. But if you think an Italian car like the Grifo couldn't possibly get better, the GT Strada is here to prove you wrong. Officially it was the competition version of the Iso Grifo A3C, which then became a road car named Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada. We know it's complicated, but that's how it goes with small manufacturers.

The race car version competed at Le Mans in 1964 and 1965, and were some of the fastest cars out there. In both years class wins were achieved, and in 1965 the GT Strada finished the race the 9th. So if you're worried about racing history this car has plenty. And if you're worried about beauty, it has even more of that.

Is it even possible to look at this car and not fall in love, immediately? This beauty is truly a classic, built in 1931. The 8C 2300 Spider Mille Miglia featured a 9 cylinder engine, with twin overhead camshafts, and had a power output of 155 horsepower. Just letting you know that this amount of power in the '30s was truly crazy.

The Millie Miglia was truly ahead of its time, and almost revolutionary for the car industry. It weighed only 1 ton, had a front suspension, adjustable semi-elliptic links, and a four speed manual gearbox. Today it belongs at Alfa Romeo's museums, as their favorite piece of art.

Okay, but the Pininfarina Batista, is anything but what you think it is. Believe us when we say if there's a car that would stun and surprise you at the same time - this is it. The Battista makers claim it's the most powerful road car ever produced in Italy. How could it not be? It has over 1900 horsepower, and it's totally electric.

The power train of the Battista is shared with the Croatian electric supercar Rimac C_Two. Plus, it is the first car to ever come out from Pininfarina Automobili. Imagine entering the automotive industry this strong. We're extremely excited about their other models, as this one already made history.

2 Pagani Huayra

Pagani Huayra

Do you know a more beautiful, yet extreme and absolutely bonkers car like the Pagani Huayra? We don't think so, either. It's truly a niche supercar, named after the wind god called Huayra Tata. Its power-to-weight ratio is much better than a Bugatti Veyron SS, and it uses an AMG-sourced 6.0-liter V12 engine with two turbos to produce 700 horsepower.

Pagani Huayra

It's truly a breathtaking car that's almost impossible to own, costing almost $2 million. But, once you drive it, you'll understand the value. The car truly feels, and behaves like it's in an explosion. As soon as you hit the throttle, the sound of it will wake the whole town. And for once, you'll feel proud. Ah, if only.

There's nothing better than a curved, funky-looking Alfa Romeo. But this one, is truly special. Built only 18 times, from November 1967 to March 1969, the 33 Stradale is perhaps Alfa's most valuable car. In 1968 it was the most expensive car on sale to the public, and today it's valued around $10 million.

The 33 Stradale's performance was remarkable for its own time. It featured a powerful 2.0-liter V8 engine in the middle, which was capable of 280 horsepower. But this car's true magic is in the way it handles and looks. Truly irreplaceable.
