Mercedes-Benz and AMG have transformed the G-Wagen into today's go-to celebrity hauler, though the rigs currently on the market still manage to combine plenty of off-road capability with their radically upgraded interior amenities. For anyone who just can't stand the thought of their six-figure SUV being outclassed in a Hollywood strip mall parking lot, though, longtime Mercedes tuner Brabus has unveiled its newest G-Wagen-based creation, the 800 Adventure XLP.

Lemme Upgrade Ya

Based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63, the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP features a laundry list of upgrades longer than its name. Under the hood, Brabus has tuned the twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 to produce 789 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque. That power is routed to all four wheels, of course, though perhaps the most notable improvement comes in the form of a coilover portal-axle suspension system that increases ground clearance to 19.2 inches. The overall wheelbase was extended by 20 inches, while a steel ladder frame and reworked suspension mounting points for the rear axle maintain rigidity.

Creature Comforts

Inside, the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP features shell-shaped leather quilting in a range of color and material options, including Alcantara on surfaces like the headliner. Custom-made aluminum trim pieces and carbon fiber abound on just about every surface of the show model, which will be mirrored in the first trucks built during 2020, though Brabus makes sure to point out that "Each vehicle can be enhanced in the company upholstery shop with a BRABUS fine leather interior tailored to the vehicle owner's personal preferences in every detail."

Rounding It Out

The First Edition trucks will start at $627,000 and include a German drone built by Wingcopter that can take off and land from the bed and reach a top speed of 150 miles per hour. That's a full 20 miles per hour faster than the 800 Adventure XLP's electronically limited top speed, which is only 130 mph due to ride height and off-roading tires. Still, the truck can sprint to 60 miles per hour in under 4.8 seconds, a stat that led Brabus to describe the 800 Adventure XLP as "[a]n exclusive supercar never seen in this form before."
