China has been in the automotive industry long enough to meet the trend, with Chinese automobile companies like Hongqi, BAIC, and Lynk & Co making mind-blowing reveals and releases of some of the fastest cars. With these releases, Chinese carmakers make it that they what it takes to vie for the top spot. Here are ten incredibly fast Chinese cars you probably never knew existed.
9 Lynk & Co O3 + Cyan Edition
Lynk & Co O3+ Cyan Edition was manufactured by Lynk & co, a division of Geely which also owns Volvo. The O3+ Cyan Edition is equipped with a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine that sends 261 hp and 280 lb-ft of twist to the 4 wheels. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, it sends the sedan from 0-62 mph in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph.
The Lynk and Co O3+ Cyan Edition is designed as a four-door sedan with a front-engine and front-wheel-drive layout. It comes with features like Akebono brakes, sticky Michelin tires, and adjustable Bilstein dampers.
8 2021 Hongqi S9
Designed by Walter de Silva, this unique hypercar was first shown in concept form at the 2019 Frankfurt International Motor show. Unveiled in 2021, the production version promises a top speed of 250 mph and a face-distorting zero to 60 mph dash of 1.9 seconds.
Built mostly from carbon fiber, it uses a 4-liter V8 engine backed by electric motors to produce an output of 1381 American ponies. The Hongqi S9 has cool aesthetics and natural elegance and is confirmed as FAW's first drivable hypercar.
7 2016 Nio EP9
Chinese manufactured NIO EP9 (Electric Performance 9), is an electric-powered two-seat sports car manufactured by NIO and assisted by their Formula E racing division. Located at each wheel is an electric motor with an output of 335.25 hp which combines to give the EP9 a total output of 1341 hp.
This speedster has a top speed of 194 mph and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in a blistering 2.7 seconds. Fully charged, the EP9's battery can last for 265 miles while the in-house-developed brakes provide superior stopping power.
6 Arcfox-GT
The Arcfox GT is a two-door all-electric GT supercar that embodies technology and design. It was revealed at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show alongside the Arcfox GT race edition. Power is supplied by four electric motors (one at each wheel) that combine to churn out 1005 hp of road rage.
Acceleration from 0-62 mph is achieved in 2.59 seconds. Designed with an integrated carbon monocoque, and with such high output, the supercar should run faster than the 158 mph top speed.
5 2016 Qiantu K50 Electric
The Qiantu K50 is an all-electric sports car designed and made by the Chinese automotive manufacturer, Qiantu Motors. A 78.84kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 227 miles powers 2 electric motors, one on each axle, for a combined output of 376 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque.
With a top speed of 124 mph, the Qiantu K50 makes it to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. Boasting a 47/53 front/rear weight distribution, the Qiantu K50 relies on electronic control programs to send power to the front and rear axles.
4 2018 Techrules Ren RS
"Weirdly Fast" was what Techrules had in store for viewers at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show when they revealed the Techrules Ren RS. Visitors were awe-struck by the fascinating features of this masterpiece. The Ren RS could reach a top speed of 205 mph and accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3 seconds.
To propel the supercar was either a four-electric motor configuration that produced 858 hp and 1150 pound-feet of torque or a six-electric motor setup with 1287 hp and 1726 pound-feet of torque.
3 NIO ET7
Unveiled in January 2021 with pricing starting at about $69,200, the ET7 is NIO's response to the Tesla Model S sedan in China. Sleek and upscale, the all-electric sedan is built on the NT2.0 architecture and boasts an advanced driver-assist system in addition to the latest high-tech features.
The spacious and cozy interior is home to a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 1000-watt 23-speaker audio system. Two electric motors generate 644 hp and 630 lb-ft of twist for a 3.8-second sprint to 62 mph.
2 NIO ES6
The all-electric 5-seater ES6 launched in December 2018 as NIO's second SUV offering to compete against the likes of Tesla Model Y and BMW iX3. Three swappable lithium-ion battery pack options are offered ranging from 70 kWh to a 100-kWh unit that provides a driving range of 379 miles.
Boasting an all-aluminum body and chassis, it rides on an active air suspension while 2 electric motors supply power to the 4 wheels. Thanks to an output of 536 hp and 535 lb-ft of torque, the ES6 can hit 62 mph in 4.7 seconds.
1 Xpeng P7
Launched in December 2019 after a semi-concept version was shown in April 2019, the Xpeng is a stylish and luxurious sporty sedan. The comprehensive suspension system (front double-wishbone + rear multi-link), is professionally tuned to complement the refined chassis and provide outstanding comfort.
