BMW's 8 Series Gets Another Special Edition In The Form Of The M850i xDrive Coupe

Only a few weeks removed from the return of the 8 Series Coupe, BMW is already at it again, with the German automakers planning to release a new special edition this year, per their PressClub.

The BMW M850i xDrive Coupe First Edition, actually the second edition as it comes after the M850i xDrive Night Sky, will be manufactured between April and June - the company will only have 400 units on offer.

The car will come in Frozen Barcelona Blue metallic paint, which is a clear-coated version of the currently available Barcelona Blue, and 20-inch, M-badged alloy wheels in onyx. The previous chrome detailing has been replaced by high-gloss black on the window frames, vents, grille, and tailpipes.

As for the interior, the coupe boasts ivory white and midnight blue leather with an Alcantara headliner, piano-lacquer black trim bits and a nifty sport steering wheel. For an additional sum, this upcoming special edition can be ordered with an M-branded carbon fiber aero package or a carbon roof.

Under the hood lies a twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V8 engine that delivers up to 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission powers both axles, and BMW claims that the car will be able to go above 60 mp/h in just 3.7 seconds.

The car will go into production at BMW's Dingolfing plant during the timeframe mentioned above and each unit will bear a plaque denoting its unique number, for e.g. "First Edition 1/400".

The company hasn't specified a price for the upcoming model but there's a reported $3,400 option on a 1,400-watt, 16-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System which should come as a nice touch for sound lovers.

The cars could also be sold on a first come, first serve basis as BMW hasn't announced anything regarding allotment.
