The year 2022 is a significant one for BMW M. That is because the motorsport division of the German car brand is celebrating its 50th anniversary. And as you might expect, an anniversary as important as this deserves quite a bit of celebration. So because of that, BMW has launched the new BMW M 50 Jahre editions of its M3 and M4 to celebrate this milestone in the company’s history. The 50 Jahre editions are for the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupe.
The Details On The 50 Jahre Editions
The new 50 Jahre M3 and M4s are both based upon the current generations of their respective models. Both of the special edition models have a straight six-cylinder engine with up to 510 hp on offer, and they both come with M TwinPower Turbo technology and what BMW calls high-revving characteristics. Depending on which variant you have, power goes to the rear wheels via either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, or sent to all four wheels thanks to M xDrive technology. There are special versions of the cars for the various markets as well.
An Exclusive For The United States
The special 50 Jahre edition on the basis of the M3 Sedan is exclusive for both the United States and Canadian markets. There is a choice of five exterior paint finishes for the 50 Jahre models. The colors are Cinnebar Red, Techno Violet, Interlagos Blue, Fire Orange and Limerock grey. All of the colors are nicely combined with M forged wheels in Orbit Grey matte paint plus selected BMW Performance parts. The US M3 will also have the BMW M Performance front splitter Carbon, rear spoiler Carbon, and the M Performance tailpipe trims in carbon or titanium.
The European M4 Coupe
For Europe, BMW will offer an exclusive edition of the M4 Coupe to mark the company’s anniversary. The M4 Coupe has the exterior colors of Carbon Black, Macao Blue, Brands Hatch Grey, Imola Red, and San Marino Blue. This car also has 19-inch M forged wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the back. A few limited numbers of the M4 Coupe 50 Jahre are also coming to the Chinese market. On all cars, the “Edition 50 Jahre BMW M” lettering is visible on the door sill trims, and M stripes are on the headrests of the front and outer rear seats.
