Brabus are, without a doubt, one of the leading tuners in the world. They specialize in radical upgrades of Mercedes-Benz cars, and has also upgraded one of the plucky little Smart cars. Their latest offering is now announced, in the form of the Brabus 800 XLP Superblack. This uses the Mercedes-AMG G63 G-Wagen as its basis. The highlight of this build surely has to be the whopping 800 hp that this four-wheel drive monster produces.

The Main Details Of The 800 XLP

The highlight of the 800 XLP must surely be the engine. The upgraded G-Wagen has a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that Brabus has modified, so it now produces a frankly unreal 800 hp. Quite simply, that is supercar levels of power output. That power goes to the wheels thanks to a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the truck is electronically limited with a top speed of 130 mph. This lack of major speed compared to the power is simply down to the truck's size and weight. It can, though, go from 0-62 mph in just 4.8 seconds. The Brabus has active sound management to allow the driver to switch from a throaty V8 sound in sport mode, to a whisper in “coming home” mode.

A Brabus car is also about the exterior. The 800 XLP is in the Brabus signature finish of Obsidian Black Metallic to give the truck a sporty appearance. Carbon fiber elements are across the whole chassis to help accentuate the truck's lines and features, such as the carbon tailpipe trims with the integrated launch ambience light. The Brabus 800 XLP also has 22-inch Brabus Monoblock HD forged wheels, that are for maximum heavy-duty off-road usage. That is of course the G-Wagen’s natural habitat.

A Sensational Interior

The Brabus changes carry on in the inside too. A fully handcrafted Brabus interior is part of this truck, in all-black leather and with special Brabus seashell diamond quilting and perforations. A lot of the interior elements have the “Heritage” brand pattern. Brabus say these pay tribute to their founding year with embossed “77” signets. There are carbon fiber elements on the steering wheel, dashboard, center console and door panels. On top of that, over 206 individual elements inside the Brabus are now in the same Shadow Chrome finish.
