Helping someone sort through their old abandoned car workshop can be a lot of fun. And it can be difficult too, trying to determine what’s what amongst a mass of old vehicle parts that probably haven't seen daylight for over half a century.

Two guys from the YouTube channel Classic Car Rescue did exactly that. Filming inside an old disused workshop, they tried to identify as many bits and pieces as they could in the old cluttered out-building. And they found some really cool classic cars, lots of old parts and a mystery vehicle.

Inside The Old Workshop

The owner of the place used to build hot rods, and for many years he hasn’t bothered with it. The cars and parts inside are just gathering dust. Now he wants to try and sell the contents, so he’s asked for help going through it all.

The first thing that hits you when you look inside is the amount of thick dust over everything. It's just everywhere. There's no color, everything appears gray. Especially in enclosed areas where the light isn’t too good.

The two guys slowly shuffle through the barn, pinpointing parts that they recognize. There are tons of Model A and Model T components; fenders, frames, hoods, sides, bumpers, interior bits, seats, and even engines.

Among old lawnmowers and vintage stoves there’s a rolling chassis for a 1929 Roaster pickup truck. “Look at the front of that thing, sweet!” comments one. As he admires the lovely old rusty truck which has wire wheels, and is in pretty good condition for its age. "That's got the bones of a nice build," he says as they walk around it.

There are rundown car parts, old household machinery, and vintage signs (including a Mobile sign with a Pegasus on it) scattered around the place. They locate lots of Chevy parts; trunk lids, bumpers, tail lights, doors, hoods, and a host of other cool pieces. All choking with dust, but ripe for saving.

In one section of the old workshop they stumble across the rusty shell of a custom 1929 Ford Model A roadster. The old hot rod looks fairly complete. A car that was once raced by the owner which is now ripe for restoration.

The Mystery Vehicle

On the same side of the barn is another car. Hidden under some tarpaulin. The guys remove the dusty cover and take a closer look. It's an old black vintage car, but it's a mystery to them. They can't find any distinguishing marks or brand badges on it. It has a huge heart-shaped grill, suicide doors, sculptured fenders, a divider window, running boards, a wooden body, whitewall tires, wire wheels and what looks like a V8 engine. It could well be close to a hundred years old.

Since filming, their YouTube video has attracted a slew of comments. Many of the respondents identify the car as a 1934 Brewster Town Car. A semi-production luxury car with Buick bodywork. Made by one of America's oldest and most prestigious coach builders of the time, Brewster & Co. And it's a fabulous find. A very rare car. One of only 130. During the time of the depression, Ford and Brewster paired up and produced these custom body cars. And this particular one has one of the most distinctive grills (perhaps not the most popular vehicle though with car buyers at the time) in automotive history.

There are probably loads of car restorers out there right now chomping at the bit as they watch the video and see all of the cool parts that these guys have unearthed in this barn. So many different bits and pieces that just need a little bit of cleaning up. As for the vintage cars that they stumbled across, well they definitely need restoring back to their former glory so that we can all enjoy them again for what they truly are, automobile history.
