A 1956 Mercedes Benz 300 SL was recently brought to London for a full-body detailing. The car ended up looking better than when it left the factory 65 years ago.

The British company Topaz Detailing, which specializes in the detailing of cars, has published a video of work with a rare 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL, which is one of the oldest classic cars ever seen by the company's craftsmen. A three-step correction made the coupe shine brighter than new.

The work with one of the best vintage Mercedeses began with carefully covering all the chrome parts on the body so that they would not tarnish from the effects of modern tools. The paintwork was then carefully examined to identify defects.

After that, the body of the Mercedes was polished several times in order to even out the varnish layer and save it from damage, including even invisible scratches. The engine compartment was cleaned using special compounds and brushes.

The finishing touch was the cleaning of the engine compartment. For this, experts used special detergents and brushes. It is not known how much the work to restore the original appearance of the 65-year-old sports coupe cost. But the price of a car itself is not a secret.

How Valuable Is The Mercedes-Benz 300SL?

The company claims that the car that got into their work costs about a million pounds, that is, almost $1.4 million. In total, Mercedes-Benz assembled a little more than 3,000 copies of the 300 SL in the middle of the 20th century. Given its rarity and history, the coupe is considered one of the most expensive collectible Mercedes models.

Apart from the exterior, the interior of this car also needs some attention. The dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels have survived despite the years of operation. But the driver's seat, apparently, knew better times.

Topaz Detailing calls itself the leader in the detailing industry in the UK. Rare and unusual cars regularly fall into the hands of the company's specialists. For example, in the summer of last year, the company published a video of the process of working on the body of the Mercedes-Benz 500 SL, which at that time was 30 years old.
