The Bugatti Bolide is certainly one of the most exciting cars that was born into the automotive world, thereby making 2020 a memorable year (save for the COVID-19 pandemic). It’s a speed demon, with Bugatti claiming it could go faster than 300 mph. Nevertheless, the Bolide is also a design angel, boasting looks that could launch a thousand awards. In support of its gorgeous design, the prestigious Festival Automobile International in Paris named the Bolide the most beautiful hypercar of 2020.

Established in 1985, the Festival Automobile International is considered one of the most prestigious awards. It recognizes not the metal, but also the people behind it, thereby celebrating automotive beauty and innovations at its finest. Now on its 36th year, the Festival Automobile International handed out awards to various cars in 15 categories.

The Bugatti Bolide was one of the nominees in the "Hypercars" category in the Festival. Votes were handed by a jury of 14 expert judges, as chaired by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte and Anne Asensio, Vice President of Design Experience at Dassault Systèmes. The jury had to pick from four finalists, and Bolide's splendor outshone its three rivals, winning the category by a wide margin.

Achim Anscheidt, Design Director at Bugatti, attributed the magnificent looks of the Bolide to Bugatti's motto: "Form follows performance." As a representation of this motto, the Bolide is the result of combining extreme aerodynamic and thermodynamic requirements into a complete, integral expression of Bugatti's DNA, Anscheidt remarked.

Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti, remarked that right from the start, their focus has been innovation and aesthetics and the award from Festival Automobile International is an affirmation of their work. Both Winkelmann and Anscheidt were extraordinarily proud of receiving the award.

Indeed, the form of the Bolide is the result of a quest to attain the most extreme performance from the Bugatt's lightest vehicle concept (1,223 lbs). Its W16 engine delivers 1,824 hp (1,850 PS) of output and 1,364 lb-ft (1,850 Nm) of torque. With a weight-to-power ratio of 0.67, the Bolide can zoom from nil to 62 mph in 2.2 seconds to a top speed of more than 310 mph (500 km/h).
