We all know Bugatti for its beautiful and high-performing cars. Since its early beginnings in 1909, the brand was quite successful in racing and set on a mission to transfer a portion of this triumph to production cars. Hence, the Type 35 Grand Prix, the Type 41 Royale, the Type 57 Atlantic, the Type 55, and many other vehicles were born. The list of famous Bugatti cars is even longer when we take into account the modern rides, and it would take some time to make.

But we actually want to talk about one of the Bugatti cars that caused probably the biggest buzz recently — La Voiture Noire. Yes, that incredible one-deal car with a sky-high price tag. You probably know already that Bugatti unveiled the Noire in 2019 at the Geneva Auto Show. The car arrived as an ode to Jean Bugatti and his own car design in a single unit.

So, the Bugatti La Voiture Noire is not only the most expensive car coming from this brand, but it's also the most exclusive one. It was such a grab that an anonymous customer bought the car for about $13-million (pre-tax) without even seeing the finalized version. Fast-forward to 2021, and the only version of Noire went for $18.7 million in total.

Kudos to Bugatti and everything, but what makes this supercar so expensive?

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire Pays Tribute To The Type 57SC Atlantic

La Voiture Noire or "The Black Car" was presented as a tribute to the Type 57SC Atlantic, one of the favored classic cars in the world. The Atlantic was designed by none other than Jean Bugatti, the eldest son of Ettore Bugatti, in 1934. It was a luxurious sports car produced in only four units, with one of them lost in World War II probably forever. Valued at $100 million, the finder's fee will send anyone to an early retirement.

The Atlantic is a coupe derived from the Type 57 lineup, which also included a four-door saloon, a convertible, and a two-door saloon. With the long bonnet, the oval-shaped rear, the low profile, and the six thin tailpipes, the Atlantic was always seen as beautiful and exotic. It's no wonder Bugatti decided to awaken our memory of this classic with a modern sports car named La Voiture Noire.

So, a car with such a rich history behind it couldn't come at a low price. What's more, the famous coupe from the past is not anywhere near affordable, and just as the Atlantic came in four units, the Noire comes in only one, limited only to the wealthiest customers. Each Little Marvelous Detail Of The Bugatti La Voiture Noire Is Handcrafted To Perfection

Bugatti claims that La Voiture Noire is more than a reinterpretation of the Atlantic, and we couldn't agree more. The coupe from the past served as a beautiful inspiration for the modern sports car, but the latter has a spirit of its own. The Noire is attractive and luxurious in a completely new way, showing the dynamic and elegance of the contemporary Bugatti models while evoking the past at the same time.

What we love about the Noire and what probably cost a fortune to build is the perfect blend of smooth yet aggressive lines. The car is every bit fierce without being overloaded. This was only made possible through handcrafting. The carbon fiber body was made with uttermost care by hand, which is actually easy to spot from the way materials merge into harmony.

The Black Car was, of course, finished in deep black gloss with only a pinch of chrome to break the dark. The headlights and the impressive one-piece tail light also bring in some color and enhance the incredible body shape of the Noire. Moreover, one would hardly miss noticing a straight-six exhaust in the back.

All in all, there are many small yet impressive details on the Noire that make this car a one-in-a-lifetime design, and that comes with a price. We don't know what the interior holds, but it's surely as impressive (and expensive) as the exterior, if not more.

The Monstrously Powerful Engine Is At The Heart Of The Bugatti La Voiture Noire

La Voiture Noire wouldn't be a real Bugatti without a powerful powertrain. This exceptional car packs an 8-liter 16-cylinder engine under the hood, which can put out about 1500 horsepower and blast you from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. How crazy is that?

We don't know how much such a Bugatti engine costs, but it definitely doesn't come cheap. So, when thinking about the $18 million price tag of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, consider there's more than a name to pay for here. The lucky customer got unmatched elegance, exclusivity, and performance all at once with the one and only Noire.
