It’s no secret that Chevrolet knows how to make a great sports car, and the Corvette has consistently proved itself as one of the best sports cars on the market. So, it may come as no surprise when a supercharged C5 manages to beat out some of the biggest names in American muscle in a drag race.
In a new video uploaded to the Drag Racing and Car Stuff Youtube Channel, we see the C5 come out on top in every round, facing off against some tough competition like the Dodge Challenger Demon, Ford Mustang, and Hellcat Charger.
Chevrolet Corvette Batte: C5 Vs C6 Z06
We start with some Chevrolet Corvette-on-Corvette action, as the C5 faces off against a blacked-out C6 Z06. It’s a very strong first round for the C5 as it shoots off the line at break-neck speed. The Z06 is no match for its fifth-generation sibling and struggles to keep up. It’s a strong first finish for the C5 with 9.9 seconds on the clock, a full 1.5 seconds faster than the C6 Z06 at 11.4 seconds.
Some Close Competition As The C5 Defends Its Lead
The next race sees the C5 Corvette line up next to a black Dodge Charger Hellcat, which proves to be more of a challenge than the C6 Corvette. The two cars are neck and neck from the start, and it is unclear to the viewer who is going to reach the finish first. The C5 only narrowly manages to secure the win with its 10-second quarter mile. Less than two-tenths of a second ahead of the Hellcat at 10.24 seconds.
It's another close call for the Corvette as it faces another Chevrolet. This time in the form of a bronze-colored S10 muscle truck. The truck has a surprisingly good start, launching off the line and into the lead of the C5. It looks as though the S10 will take this round, but the C5 manages to recover and squeeze ahead of the truck for the finish. It’s another two-tenths of a second win for the Corvette at 10.1 seconds to the S10’s time of 10.3 seconds.
A Surprisingly Slow Ford Mustang And The C5’s Closest Battle Yet
A blue Ford Mustang is the next challenger for the C5, but a bad start for the Mustang leads to an even worse race. It appears the Mustang may be having some issues as it trundles along behind the Corvette to finish in 11.7 seconds. The C5 finishes with a time of 9.9 seconds.
The track is in full darkness now, and our final race of the night sees the C5 Corvette line up next to a blue Dodge Challenger Demon. It’s an impressive start for the Demon who launches off the line marginally behind the C5 despite weighing almost 1,500 lbs more. The Demon quickly catches the C5, and it looks like the Chevy will finally lose its winning streak. However, the C5 Corvette manages to cling onto the win by just one-tenth of a second at 9.8 seconds while the Hellcat finished in 9.9 seconds.
While the competition was impressive, it just wasn't enough to beat this white C5 Chevrolet Corvette with a supercharger.
