While some motorcyclists may consider three wheels one wheel too many, for those who have ridden a Can-Am Spyder or Ryker, they know what a thrill these machines are on the open road. As Can-Am has experienced further success in the market, they have continually sought was to diversify their lineup. That has been proven once again with the introduction of Can-Am's 2022 on-road models. This week's announcement saw the unveiling of the all-new Ryker Rally and Spyder F3 Limited Special series, as well as updates to the Can-Am Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky. With a wider range of models to choose from, each catered to specific styles of riding, Can-Am is welcoming more people to the three wheels.

Getting Caught In The Spyder's Web

Initially launched in 2007, the Can-Am Spyder has built a loyal following, especially among trike enthusiasts who prefer their sure-footed design. Built by Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), the Canadian-built Spyder opts for a single drive wheel in the rear with two front wheels for steering (reversing the configuration of more conventional trikes, like those produced by Harley-Davidson). The Spyder, and its smaller sibling the Ryker, therefore look more like a snowmobile on wheels, which should come as no shock as BRP also owns Ski-Doo and Lynx. Once the market got used to the look and feel of the Spyder, it quickly became the flagship model for Can-Am and the updates for 2022 display its evolution and refinement.

RELATED: Is the Can-Am Spyder The Ultimate Three-Wheeled Vehicle? For 2022, Can-Am is releasing a new package called the Spyder F3 Limited Special. The aim of this new model is to improve rider and passenger comfort. The Limited Special will offer pulled-back handlebars, a rider and passenger backrest, and a top box. Each of these additions to the Spyder F3 will allow the buyer to clock more miles in the saddle. And, as if riding a trike is not a bold enough statement, Can-Am is also offering the Spyder F3 in a set of new colors including Manta Green, Viper Red, and Monolith Black with Octane Blue accents. In addition to the new F3 Limited Special series, Can-Am is also updating their top of the line Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky model. Improvements on the luxurious Sea-to-Sky include new wind deflectors, a softer saddle with an adjustable rider backrest and lumbar support, and new 12-spoke silver wheels (all for $29,999 MSRP).

The most exciting part of the 2022 reveal was the new Ryker Rally. Can-Am has a whole host of off-road vehicles in its stable including some incredibly capable ATVs and side-by-sides, but this is the first time they have offered an off-road option in the Ryker or Spyder lines. Admittedly, the Ryker Rally is not intended as a true off-road vehicle, appearing more like an ADV version of a trike. The Ryker Rally comes with a brush bar up front and a skid plate underneath, and it offers more ground clearance than other Ryker models. It looks like a perfect machine to rip up some dirt roads, and it should put a smile on the face of any Ryker rider who heads off into the wilderness.
