Over the last few years, hundreds of brand-new car models and new generations of existing models have been launched, then there are all the facelifts and companies reviving old nameplates. While the automotive world has seen many new models come along, there has also been a fair share of cars being discontinued for various reasons, and it seems most new cars only last a few years before they're replaced.

However, there are some cars that are still sold new today new that are begging for a replacement, and it's about time that the manufacturers get the idea and actually replace these cars.

10 Chevrolet Express

via Chevrolet Canada

The Chevrolet Express is older than Camila Cabello, Kylie Jenner, Marcus Rashford, and 6ix9ine. The Express was launched 26 years ago, in 1995, making it one of the oldest vehicles on sale today. It's a reliable strong van that's spacious and practical. Consumers love it, which is why it's still in production.

However, it's just way past its time. It's powered by huge engines, the smallest being a turbodiesel inline-4, and inside it is like a time warp as everything just looks and feels so old. It's been a successful hit for Chevrolet, and it isn't a vehicle the brand would want us to forget anytime soon.

9 Lexus LX

caradvice.com.au

The full-size luxury SUV market is an area where Lexus could really take advantage of and actually put up some decent competition. Instead, though, they just carry on making the LX570, which has been around since 2008. That's thirteen years and between those years there have been three Cadillac Escalade generations, three Lincoln Navigator generations, and two Range Rover generations. BMW has even joined the game with the X7.

The LX may have had its fair share of facelifts, but it is just so old that it needs to go. The technology inside feels dated, the design looks ancient and the engines are all way past their sell-by date.

8 Toyota Sequoia

It seems Toyota really doesn't like to update their SUVs, and the Sequoia is another example of this. The current generation car has been around since 2008, and despite all the updates, this car is beginning to really show its age. The truck version of this SUV, the Tundra, will be replaced this year. The Sequoia though won't be.

The interior of this car is where the age really shows. It's not a bad interior, but it's stuck in 2008, and compared to some newer SUVs on the market, this car is literally a museum on wheels. Though these cars are very reliable and like most Toyota's this one will last you more than a decade.

7 Nissan GTR

The Nissan GTR is a great car, and it is still one of the fastest cars you can buy today. It is, however, fourteen years old this year, and in the performance car world, that's just too old. The GTR may have PlayStation style graphics and Usain Bolt acceleration but despite the facelifts, this car is feeling the age, hence the declining sales figures.

The GTR has had a long impressive evolution and the 2021 model is a lot different from the one launched in 2007. However, they still share the same engine and also a lot of key parts.

6 Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger is a brilliant car and FCA has done well with all the updates and trims they have given this car over the years. From the Hellcat to the SXT models, all of them look pretty cool. The current Hellcat Redeye has 797hp and 717 lb-ft of torque which is more than the most powerful Lamborghini Aventador.

It is, however, a 13-year-old design with a 25-year-old chassis from the W210 Mercedes E-Class. There are many reasons why you should still buy one but also a few why you shouldn't. Its rivals have all changed during the Challenger's production period, and now they're all refined and more sporty.

5 Mitsubishi Mirage

Everybody really wishes that the Mirage was never made as it is a truly terrible car. However, it is extremely cheap, in fact, it is the cheapest new car in the USA . If you want a new car that is dirt cheap, then the Mitsubishi Mirage may be an option worth considering. Just don't expect any thrills.

The Mirage has been around now since 2012 and even when it was launched it felt old. It is a hideous little car and a complete slap to the Mitsubishi brand. By far one of the worst Japanese cars to buy right now.

4 Toyota Land Cruiser

Toyota really needs to replace the Land Cruiser, it's far too old. It has been around since 2007, and for years, it has felt dated. It may be a great off-roader and a comfortable SUV, but this SUV truly is stuck in a time warp. The interior is full of buttons and the sat-nav feels like a computer from the 80s.

It is one of the best foreign off-roaders available, and there are many off-road specifications to choose from. It is a great utility car, but as a family SUV, Toyota seriously needs to do better.

3 Caterham 7

The Caterham 7 really is the grandad in the car world. It has been around since 1973 and the design has been around since 1957 as the Lotus Seven. The Caterham 7 isn't a bad car but in the modern world, it looks extremely embarrassing. It is extremely light and models such as the 620R can perform a hypercar-like 0-60 time.

wheelerdealers.discoveryuk.com

The 620R is one of the best track day cars out there however, Caterham does need to replace it with something a bit more modern looking.

2 Maserati Quattroporte

Via: Sunday Times Driving

Over the past few years, it has seemed Maserati has been a brand that has essentially "given up." The Quattroporte is a key example of this as it really hasn't kept well with the time. It may have had a recent facelift, but it still feels old. The design looks aged, the interior doesn't feel special, and the engines aren't that great.

Car Pixel

It is a disappointing car, and it is the fastest depreciating car in America. Maserati really does need to replace this car because its base MSRP is just over $109,000, which is similar to the new Mercedes S-Class, a car we are really excited about driving. That car has more technology, more comfort, it looks better, and it's faster. The Maserati doesn't really have a brand advantage anymore since their reputation has really suffered in the last few years.

1 Lamborghini Aventador

Via MotorAuthority

By far one of the best supercars on sale today, if not the best one. However, it is almost a decade old, and it does need a replacement to stay in the game. Its top V12 pushes similar power to the top turbocharged V8 unit in McLaren's cars. Of course, we don't want the legendary 6.5 liter V12 to die, but it is dinosaur technology in the world of mechanics.

Via autotrader.ca

The Aventador is an ancient car despite a lot of its parts being somewhat new. It's too wide and way too thirsty. However, the SVJ model is the second fastest car around the Nürburgring. It may be one of the best supercars of the last decade, but can it hold that position for another decade? Probably not.
