There are many car series from now defunct former GM brands that we wish could make a comeback. There is absolutely no question that many of these car manufacturers that sadly came to a close made some spectacular cars that truly would have been awesome to see continued today. However, due to the intense nature and competition of the automobile business, some manufacturers simply cannot keep up with the vast amount of spectacular models each year. With that being said, many of these companies have sadly had to discontinue their entire development, leaving us to only look back at their best models with sadness.

With all that has been stated thus far, we will be looking at 20 cars from defunct GM brands that we wish would seriously make a comeback. It would be awesome to see some of these spectacular models come back to the primary market, even though it is highly unlikely that this will ever be the case. However, luckily for us, we can start collecting some of these vintage or discontinued models and add them to our car collections. These brands seriously gave us some truly marvellous vehicles that need to seriously be remembered for their success. At the end of the day, it is essential.

Nonetheless, let’s look at the 20 cars from defunct GM brands that need to make a comeback!

20 Pontiac Firebird

via autotrader.ca

The Pontiac Firebird was one of the best models from the now defunct Pontiac brand and we definitely wish it could make a big return in the future. This is one of the best looking sports cars in the world, no matter what decade you look at it from, so it deserves a ton of recognition to this day.

The Firebird was an extremely fast sports car that also packed a lot of power for a smaller model.

This vehicle is one that definitely would work out nicely in your collection, but depending on which year you are looking to buy, the price range could vary immensely and could even break the bank.

19 Mercury Cougar

via stmed.net

The Mercury Cougar was one of the oldest and long lasting models from the car company and is easily one of their bests ever. The Cougar was a traditional average sized car, but it definitely was worth investing in no matter what year you would end up buying at the end of the day. There is no question that the Cougar is one that we all wish would come back to the automobile world. However, with the brand discontinued, it is extremely unlikely that we will ever get to have them again. However, there are still plenty of these classics to choose from to add to your collection.

18 Saturn Ion

via driving.ca

The Saturn Ion is a car that was often overlooked in the automobile world, but it was still a decent design for an affordable vehicle. Of course, one major and glaring issue with this car was the many safety issues it had. This was unfortunate as it actually spelled the end for the Saturn brand, and they eventually went under. While we can't say the Ions that went out were any good, we can say that had they gotten the bugs out, this could have been a very decent affordable car for many people.

17 Saab 9-3

The Saab 9-3 was essentially carrying the car manufacturer during its final years on the primary market and that just shows how great this car was.

Although Saab definitely was dropping in popularity during the end of its existence, this model still brought in great sales at the end of the day.

The final Saab 9-3 came out in 2014, so it definitely can still be driven today with a lot of reliability too. However, it would have been cool if this vehicle was still here today because of how nice looking and effective it was on the road. This is one that we can still enjoy today easily.

16 Oldsmobile Bravada

via autoevolution.com

The Oldsmobile Bravada was a mid sized SUV that was often enjoyed by its owners because of the fact that it definitely did its primary job correctly. This car was not known for its high speeds or overall strength, but it was an extremely safe car for its drivers and passengers. It is a shame that the Oldsmobile company had to come to an end because this vehicle would still be a top choice for families. There is no question that the Bravada definitely helped carry this struggling company at the end and could even be worth buying today the right price.

15 Hummer H2

via flickr.com

Hummer is one of the most controversial car manufacturers of all time and that can be seen by the many mixed reviews it has gotten over the years.

After a spike of pure dominance in the mid to late 2000s, this brand hit a huge halt and suddenly came to end shortly after its peak.

The Hummer H2 could very well be the top vehicle to ever come from this manufacturer and it does deserve praise by even the people who hate the company. This was a strong vehicle that worked exceptionally well and it essentially was the main reason why the company got to be so popular.

14 Saturn Aura

via insureyourcaronline.com

The Saturn Aura is not going to be a vehicle that would make its drivers excited to drive because of its looks, but rather by its reliability. This was by far one of the best models to have ever come from Saturn and is definitely one that we all wish could come back in the future. The Saturn Aura is not necessarily going to go down as one of the best vehicles of all-time, but it did do very well with its time on the primary market. This was definitely one of the reasons why Saturn was able to stay afloat during its final years and thus, this model is worth having even today.

13 Pontiac GTO

via hemmings.com

Many consider the Pontiac GTO as the best vehicle to ever come from the now defunct car manufacturer and it is easy to understand why. Although this model was primarily a vintage one now, it has been grown to be loved by many members of the automobile world.

This is a vehicle that definitely is beloved because of its incredible appearance and that is totally understandable.

It was a truly amazing sports car nonetheless and it would have been amazing to see Pontiac bring it back through their own name before the company sadly went out of business.

12 Saab 900

The Saab 900 had a very long time on the primary market and that is because many people enjoyed this spectacular model. Again, although it was not the fanciest of looking cars, it did have a lot of features that made it quite likeable by the automobile world for a long time. The Saab 900 was definitely the model that truly kept this struggling car company afloat, but sadly it would not be enough at the end of its cycle. Yet, this is a car that definitely would be awesome to see come back in the future because of how safe and reliable it truly was.

11 Pontiac Aztek

via autoevolution.com

The Pontiac Aztek did not have a long time to be on the primary market and that is because the company failed immensely. Yet, the Aztek was actually a very nice and safe model that was the perfect family car. It would have been awesome to see this model have more years to thrive though. The Pontiac Aztek is one that definitely would be worth investing in today if it can be found in good condition. This vehicle was extremely strong structurally, so it thankfully has come with a long life cycle at the end of the day. The Aztek is one that the automobile world wishes would come back.

10 Mercury Milan

The Mercury Milan is widely considered to be the best overall model from the car manufacturer in its entire history. This alone should be enough for buyers to wish it would come back into existence because it was seriously a spectacular model that came with very little issues.

The Mercury Milan sadly also had a short time on the primary market, as it was released from 2005 to 2011.

There is no question that the Milan would still have been a hit today if the car manufacturer was able to stay afloat. Thankfully we can still purchase the older ones today, however.

9 Daewoo Tosca

The Daewoo Tosca is a fantastic model that is often not talked about much today because of the fact that the company is no longer in business. However, even with this being the case, this vehicle is a great model that should seriously still be used today if possible. The Daewoo Tosca is a very nice looking car that definitely attracted buyers due to this clear fact. However, there was far more to this vehicle than just its great looks, as it was able to reach high speeds and had a strong structure. Issues were limited with this series as well, so it was an all-around wonderful one.

8 Oldsmobile Cutlass

via webeautos.com

The Oldsmobile Cutlass is a spectacular looking model and is the one that many individuals of the automobile world remember most from the car manufacturer. When looking at the immense history of this series, there is no question we all wish that this one could come back permanently. The Oldsmobile Cutlass is an iconic vehicle because of the fact that its newest models even packed a vintage look to them. However, what is most important is that this vehicle was also extremely durable, so they would end up lasting their drivers for a number of years.

7 Saturn Sky

via netcarshow.com

The Saturn Sky was a blistering fast vehicle that many drivers were ecstatic to have owned. This is a vehicle that is often remembered by the car manufacturer because of the fact that it possesses such a vibrant personality through its design and overall riding ability.

The Saturn Sky is just a fun car no matter what year one buys it from, so this is one that would be fantastic to own with your car collection.

Although the price would likely be pretty high for these spectacular models, it would be worth possessing for its absolutely outstanding results.

6 Mercury Villager

via wikimedia.org

The Mercury Villager is not going to win any awards for its design, but that does not mean that this vehicle is anything short of fantastic. The Villager was the perfect family car because it was extremely safe and provided a large number of seats for its passengers as well. The Mercury Villager is the perfect way to build a minivan and it definitely would still be bought today if it was still in business. The Villager is definitely one that many families wish could come back because they definitely would have thrived with the immense improvements of technology today.

5 Daewoo LeMans

via wikipedia.org

Although the Daewoo LeMans is not the best looking vehicle on the planet, it is one that would definitely be cool to see back today. Although this likely will never happen again because of the manufacturer obviously now out of business, we as fans can truly hope nonetheless. The Daewoo LeMans is a car that every collector should not overlook and add to their garage. It should not be too hard to find one of these cars for a reasonable price as well because they are not sports cars. At the end of the day, this is a great model that deserves to be praised still.

4 Saturn Outlook

2009 Saturn Outlook XR. X09ST_OT002 (United States)

It is crazy to believe that the Saturn Outlook was only in production in three years, but had to come to an end because the car manufacturer was discontinued. This is crazy because the Outlook was actually beloved by its owners and was a great mid-size SUV to own.

The Saturn Outlook definitely would still be a commercial success on the primary market today because it did have a very good reputation.

This vehicle was extremely durable and also was not prone to have many issues at the end of the day. A 2010 model could even still be worth purchasing right now.

3 Hummer H3

via carspecs.us

The Hummer H3 was an extremely powerful model and is one that definitely was great during its time on the primary market. When one buys a Hummer, they are expecting their vehicle to be able to handle carrying a large amount of products, as well as being able to stay well structured. The Hummer H3 definitely was able to reach these expectations and it makes a lot of sense that it was a commercial success at the end of the day. It definitely would be cool to see the Hummer H3 released again because these vehicles were ultimately strong models with a cool look.

2 Pontiac Grand Am

via cargurus.com

The Pontiac Grand Am is a very popular and well known model from the car manufacturer and that is largely because of the fact that it has a very rich history. The Grand Am was in production for a large number of years and definitely would work quite nicely if made still today. No matter what generation of the Pontiac Grand Am you are looking at, it is quite apparent that it is still a fantastic model. The Grand Am is one that would have been very nice to see come back, but realistically, this is an extreme long shot with the manufacturer out business entirely.

1 Oldsmobile 442

via mecum.com

The Oldsmobile 442 may be the best looking vehicle to have ever come from the car manufacturer. This muscle car had a ton of power and definitely was able to reach the vast amount of expectations that was placed on it. No matter what model you look at, it was a reliable vehicle.

The Oldsmobile 442 had a very long and rich history, so it would have been awesome to still see it today.

It is apparent that this wish will never come true, so our best bet is to collect one or many of these cars. At the end of the day, this is a great vintage model that probably deserved more time on the primary market.
