Without a doubt, the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most formidable and prominent teams in the history of the NBA. Back then, they were known as the Detroit Gems and were playing in the National Basketball League (NBL). It was when the team made a move to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1947 that the team’s name was changed to Lakers since Minnesota is known as the “land of 10,000 lakes.” And during its first ever season in the NBL, this team ended up taking the championship.

Since then, the Lakers have been continuously establishing their reputation as the team to beat in basketball. Over the years, the Lakers have managed to make as many as 60 playoff appearances and 31 finals appearances, according to the NBA. More importantly, the team has also secured as many as 10 championship rings. These were in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010.

Over the years, the Lakers featured players that are unstoppable on the basketball court. These included the likes of Jerry West, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Gail Goodrich, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Jamaal Wilkes, Shaquille O’Neal and of course, Kobe Bryant. All of these men played the game with great skill, so much so that their numbers were retired upon retirement.

Today, the great legacy of the LA Lakers continues. There are certainly a lot of new faces, but the passion remains burning bright. 20 Current: JaVale McGee, Range Rover

JaVale McGee is an NBA veteran that has been playing professional basketball since 2008. For this man, basketball runs in the blood. In fact, his mother is none other than WNBA player Pamela McGee. Meanwhile, his father, George Montgomery was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers during the 1985 NBA draft. McGee was initially drafted by the Washington Wizards, but at some point in his career, he ended up with the famed Lakers.

Compared to other players, Brandon Ingram is relatively new in the NBA. Ingram made his NBA debut when he became the second overall pick by the Lakers in the 2016 NBA Draft. Tyson Chandler is a professional basketball player who has been in the NBA since 2001. Chandler first played for the Chicago Bulls before moving on to the New Orleans Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and finally, LA Lakers. Chandler only started playing for the Lakers in the 2018 to 2019 season. And during his first season with the team, Chandler scored 140 points.

When Tyson Chandler needs to up his game, you can sometimes catch him driving around in his white Ferrari California. This is one car model that is quite popular among celebrities and Ferrari Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel himself.

Moreover, it was during the ‘Magic Era’ that the Lakers averaged an impressive 59 wins per season. Following his retirement, Johnson went on to become the Lakers' head coach in 1994. 5 Old Guard: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 1948 Packard Super 8 Convertible

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar decided to retire from the NBA back in 1989. Throughout his career, he managed to win as many as six NBA championships. Aside from this, Abdul-Jabbar was also awarded as many as six regular season MVP awards and two NBA Finals MVPs. Upon his retirement, this 7’2 center also held the record as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer after amassing as many as 38,387 points throughout his career. It’s no wonder that Abdul-Jabbar has been recognized as one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players of All Time.

Today, it’s safe to say that Abdul-Jabbar is enjoying retirement. In fact, back in 2014, he proudly displayed a car that he had just purchased, a 1948 Packard Super 8 Convertible which he bought in Phoenix.

4 Old Guard: Shaquille O’Neal, Ford F-650

Without a doubt, Shaquille O’Neal is a big man with a big personality. After signing with the LA Lakers in 1996, O’Neal ended up staying with the team for eight long seasons. And during this time, he helped lead the team to three straight NBA titles from 2000 to 2002.

Because O’Neal is quite a big guy, finding the right vehicle for his physical build can be difficult. Fortunately, he found what he was looking for in a Ford F-650. According to a report from Motor 1, O’Neal’s truck was powered by a 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine that could deliver 330 horses and 750 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, this particular F-650 was fitted with Bluetooth, HD radio, infotainment system, and heated leather seats.

Sure, O’Neal has a pretty big frame, so much so that it would be hard for him to fit into your typical car. Hence, when O’Neal got a Lamborghini Gallardo, it needed some custom work to fit him.

According to a report from Motor Authority, the company Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters did the custom work for O’Neal’s supercar. In the end, around 12 inches was added to the car’s overall length. Nonetheless, O’Neal’s Gallardo looks just like any other Gallardo to the naked eye. That’s because Gaffoglio made sure to make it seem that way. As Gaffoglio CEO George Gaffoglio told Motor Authority, “We relied on our aerospace and coachworks divisions to make sure Shaq could fit in the car, but the naked eye could not detect any differences from the original Gallardo.”

2 Old Guard: Kobe Bryant, Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty Black Ops Edition

Kobe Bryant is the most recent NBA legend to retire from the sport. The 6'6 guard played in the league for 16 years, all of which were spent with the LA Lakers. Since he joined the team, Bryant had been scoring nonstop. During the 1996 to 1997 season, his very first, Bryant scored a total of 539 points. The following season, he went on to score 1,220 points. In the later seasons, Bryant had even scored over 2,000 points.

Sometimes, when he's driving around, Bryant can be spotted in his Jeep Wrangler. This Wrangler happens to be a Call of Duty Black Ops Edition. According to a report from Forbes, this comes with 'Black Ops' tail lamp guards and "Call of Duty: Black Ops" graphics on its sides.

With an estimated net worth of around $500 million according to Cheat Sheet, NBA legend Kobe Bryant has more than enough cash to splurge on some serious toys. One of which is a Ferrari 458 Italia that Bryant can be seen driving around from time to time.

The 458 Italia is a 2009 model that received awards such as "Best Engine Above 4 Liters" and "Best Performance Engine." Under its hood is a 4.5-liter V8 engine that delivers 562 horses and 398 pound-feet of torque.

For Bryant's very own 458 Italia, the NBA star reportedly paid as much as $329,000. That is $100,000 more than the MSRP, which suggests that he had custom work done.
