The Marvel Cinematic Universe has completely blown up over the last decade, accruing an incredible following and the primary place in pop culture. By far and away, the movie franchise has virtually swallowed the entire industry, becoming this self-perpetuating, money-making, gargantuan titan of a thing. It spanned over a decade now and roped in almost every big name actor in Hollywood while introducing countless new talents.
Of course, many of these new talents are not allowed to spread their wings beyond the franchise, as they are either contractually obligated or merely don't have the time. The same goes for a lot of the big name talent. Disney bought out Marvel a few years ago, along with the Star Wars franchise, (amongst countless other companies and brands) which means that out of all the entertainment industry, Disney owns most of it. It's safe to say that there is a bit of a monopoly in the movie industry and in Hollywood, virtually all entertainment and much of TV is dictated by, owned by, and produced by Disney.
That's kind of scary when you really start to think about it, but we're not too much interested in that side of things. We're all about cars, and when it comes to stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are a lot of them, and they have a lot of money. Which means they've got some pretty sweet rides. Let's take a look at 20 cars that the stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe drive on the daily.
20 Robert Downey Jr.'s Audi R8 Spyder
Robert Downey Jr. is a phenomenal actor who, after dropping off the map for a while, found himself back in the limelight, this time to star as the incredible Tony Stark, the first face of the now super mega-corporation owned franchise known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring in the movie that started it all, Iron Man.
Here he's seen driving a red Audi R8 Spyder, a V10 supercar fitting for the one and only Tony Stark. Robert has gone so far as to have a custom license plate that reads "Stark16," showing that he takes role-playing seriously.
19 Chris Evans' Custom 1967 SpeedKore Camaro
Chris Evans is one of the big name, top of the list stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe because he is known as none other than one of the eminent Avengers. He had two of his own movies in the franchise, as well as featuring in all of the Avengers' movies.
This is a pretty spectacular car, one that fellow actor Robert Downey Jr. gifted to him as a good friend. It is a custom made 1967 SpeedKore tuned Camaro, and it's a serious beast and a genuine collector car. There's nothing quite like this machine, featuring a supercharged 6.2 Liter V8, pushing out an incredible 730 horsepower.
18 Chris Hemsworth's Acura MDX
Chris Hemsworth is one of the most iconic characters in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, as he plays none other than the great Thor, a Norse God. He is perhaps most known for his role as Thor, but one of my favorite roles from the actor is in the recent movie Bad Times at the El Royale, a truly phenomenal movie.
His car, partially due to a mutually beneficial partnership with Acura, is the Acura MDX, which he can be seen arriving in at red carpet events, as he is above pictured doing. The Acura MDX is a solid luxury crossover.
17 Chris Pratt's Restored VW Beetle
Chris Pratt was once known only as the dopey and beloved character from the series Parks and Rec and wasn't regarded as much more than a funny guy. But, that all changed when he was cast as the lead role in Guardians of the Galaxy, where he was propelled into superstardom.
He's a bit of a Renaissance man, though, as he himself restored this old Beetle, giving it a character all of its own, and proving that he's more than just a face, or another actor, but a man who has taste and passion for motoring. Good going, Mr. Pratt.
16 Chadwick Boseman's Lexus LC
Chadwick Boseman was, before his breakout role, an unfamiliar face. With the phenomenally successful debut of Black Panther, he quickly rose to fame and fortune as the lead superhero in that movie.
Fittingly, he owns a Lexus LC, a pretty spectacular sports car from the company he also has done promotional work for in partnership with The Black Panther. The LC is a pretty special car, in all honesty, featuring either a 3.5 Liter V6 or a beefy 5 Liter V8, producing between 354 and 471 horsepower. For a Lexus, it's pretty good.
15 Tom Hiddleston's F-Type Jag
Tom Hiddleston is one of the most beloved actors out there, and it only helps things along that he's British. He had several roles in Hollywood before his big one in the MCU, but one of my favorites that he co-stars with Tilda Swinton in is the phenomenal Only Lovers Left Alive. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he plays Loki, evil brother and symbolic counterpart to Thor.
He drives around an F-Type Jaguar, a fitting car for a villain, really. The F-Type Jag is a luxury sports car, available with either a supercharged V6 or a supercharged V8, the latter pushing out an incredible 550 horsepower.
14 Benedict Cumberbatch's Jaguar F-Type R
Benedict Cumberbatch has been quite the sensation over the last decade, having risen from Britain with various small roles, most notably as Mr. Holmes from the popular BBC show Sherlock, and landed a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as none other than Doctor Strange. This role is fitting for Cumberbatch, as he effortlessly becomes the superhero of the comics.
His car, pictured above, is the spectacular Jaguar F-Type R, his, of course, being a convertible. The F-Type R is a seriously quick British car as well, featuring a phenomenal 550 horsepower 5 Liter V8.
13 Mark Ruffalo's BMW i3
Mark Ruffalo has spent a lot of time in Hollywood as a fairly unknown actor before he decided to pursue acting in New York. He had several smaller roles before his big feature in the MCU, one of my favorite being in the spectacular movie Foxcatcher. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he plays Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk.
His car taste involves sustainability, as he is a very conscious person, living his life mindfully and standing for many things that are very important. This is the BMW i3, a fully electric vehicle that is surprisingly sustainable and affordable.
12 Scarlett Johansson's Mercedes GLC 250
Scarlett Johansson had quite a rise to stardom over the last few years, becoming one of the most beloved actresses of a generation. She had many roles over the years, but her place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that of Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow.
Her day to day life is a bit less assassin-y and involves driving a luxurious yet practical Mercedes GLC 250, an awesome SUV made by the German car company, that features a turbocharged inline 4, good for 211 horsepower.
11 Gwyneth Paltrow's Audi S5
Gwyneth Paltrow, one of Hollywood's best actresses, perhaps one of the most underrated as well, has been active onscreen for a long time now, since the mid-'90s. She's known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Pepper, the lovely assistant, and lover of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.
Her car, of many, pictured above is the Audi S5. Gwyneth is known for her love of Audi rides, having done a fair amount of promotional work for them. The S5 is a pretty luxurious and quick car, too, boasting 350 horsepower from a 3 Liter V6.
10 Josh Brolin's Ram 1500
Josh Brolin, who is James Brolin's son, has found quite a lot of success in various roles over the years, perhaps his biggest breakout role was in Men In Black III, though perhaps my favorite movie starring Brolin is No Country For Old Men, an incredible movie directed by the Coen Brothers.
He stars in the MCU as two characters, in fact, as Thanos (pretty spectacular gig if you ask me) in the Avengers saga, as well as Cable in the popular anti-hero movie Deadpool 2. He's a pretty awesome villain, honestly.
9 Sir Anthony Hopkins' Maserati Quattroporte
It's a little less known, perhaps, that Sir Anthony Hopkins has a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he does indeed play a role, one that features in the backstory and plotline of Thor. Sir Anthony Hopkins plays Odin, which is quite a fitting role for the acting legend, as the God of all Norse Gods.
The car behind Sir Anthony is a Maserati Quattroporte, a fabulous sports car that has, since its introduction, depreciated incredibly fast, meaning that this luxury Italian supercar can be anyone's for fairly cheap.
8 Idris Elba's Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series
Idris Elba, unlike a lot of actors, has seen most of his fame and recognition come from roles that he not only starred in after his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but also have nothing to do with his starring in these movies. Most people don't even know he's in the MCU, but he is, playing the Asgardian Gate Keeper in a number of the MCU movies.
His car of choice: the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Black Series, an incredible car, one of the most expensive and most exclusive Mercedes to reach the market yet. It features a naturally aspirated 6.2 Liter V8, that cranks out a phenomenal 622 horsepower, and the body of a race car.
7 Jeremy Renner's Mercedes Benz 280SL
Jeremy Renner is a pretty spectacular actor, having been in such movies as the Jason Bourne reboot, as well as one of my all-time favorite films, and a very powerful one, Wind River. In the monopoly of the MCU, he plays Hawkeye, a pretty incredible superhero, and definitely one of my personal favorites.
His car taste is pretty phenomenal as well, considering he just recently bought this antique beauty of a Mercedes, a 28oSL, a vintage retro roller that oozes an almost incomprehensible amount of class. Only a true gearhead would buy one of these.
6 Jude Law's Mercedes Benz 380SL
Jude Law is the next up and coming big name talent to get swallowed up by the overarching monopoly otherwise known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he will be playing a role in the upcoming and highly anticipated Captain Marvel. He's known quite well outside of the franchise for many roles, one of my favorites probably being the Sherlock Holmes movies.
His car choice is quite discerning, as well, as he's seen stepping out of a beautiful, retro Mercedes Benz, a 380SL to be specific. These older Mercedes are incredible choices for discerning buyers, as they are wonderfully crafted and perfect once restored.
5 Natalie Portman's Mercedes Benz S400 Hybrid
Natalie Portman has been an actress since a very young age, an adolescent, starring in movies like the classic movie The Professional. One of my personal favorite movies and definitely one of my all-time favorite movies is Annihilation, a groundbreaking sci-fi movie from one of my favorite directors. Her role in the MCU is secondary, playing Jane Foster in Thor.
Her car is a really special one, too, a fairly uncommon Mercedes Hybrid, the S400 Hybrid, to be specific. This car is surprisingly sensible, with an efficient V6 engine augmented by an electric motor, giving a combined output of 295 horsepower, and loads of efficiency.
4 Paul Bettany's 64 Volvo Amazon
Paul Bettany isn't the most familiar name in the world of Hollywood, or in the lineup of stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, he has a surprisingly important role in the Avenger's lineup, as Vision, one of the nigh lead characters in the movie, and in my opinion one of the most compelling. Although I'll always love him for his role in A Knight's Tale.
His car is a fascinating one, too, one that is vintage, unique, and has loads of character. It's a 1964 Volvo Amazon, a family car that Paul had moved over to L.A. with him when he moved. It was important he kept it with him.
3 Samuel L. Jackson's Maybach 57 S
Samuel L. Jackson has had a place in the superhero comic book world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he starred in the role of Nick Fury, who has since died in the universe, sending him away from any active role in the MCU.
But, his acting career is about as diverse as any, so he's quite well off, starring in the recent alt-superhero movie Glass. His car of choice? The Maybach 57 S, a super luxury sedan with a customized champagne bar in the back, just for him. Sometimes it's nice to be Samuel L. Jackson.
2 Tilda Swinton's Green Skoda
Tilda Swinton is pure magic, she's one of the greatest actresses and personalities of our time. She starred in a wide number of acclaimed films, many of which make my personal favorites list. Movies like Only Lovers Left Alive, a truly fantastic movie co-starring another MCU actor Tom Hiddleston, and a personal favorite, the incredible Suspiria. She plays The Ancient One in Doctor Strange.
Mentioned in a GQ article about Tilda Swinton, she's reported to drive around on the daily in a simple Green Skoda. Talk about practical and simple. For her, it has never been about the fame, and all about the self-expression.
1 Tom Holland's Audi RS 7
Tom Holland is simultaneously one of the newest faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and one of the youngest. He plays Peter Parker in the Avengers lineup, and after being introduced there went on to have his own individual feature, Spiderman: Homecoming.
With his successes, he has acquired fame and fortune, and with a portion of that fortune has bought for himself a rather nice Audi RS7. The RS7 is a personal favorite of mine, for its looks, practicality, and stunning performance. The RS7 has 605 horsepower available at the touch of a pedal, coming from a 4 Liter V8 engine.
