15 50 Cent's Ferraris Weren't His

The New York rapper went completely broke several years ago, but some people believe that it was a strategy to avoid paying the compensation after he got sued. Whether or not Fifty is still rich is arguable, but what remains a fact is that he was dishonest during the shooting in his home.

Once Fifty gave viewers a tour of his home, he showed off his Ferraris - the F50, Enzo and 599. Fifty didn't own the Ferraris that he showed on the program. The cars belonged to a collector who lent 50 Cent the vehicles for the purpose of the program.

14 Bow Wow Rented The Vehicles

Before she was on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim was trying to make a name by any means necessary. She stated that the movie of their night together leaked, but many people believe that she released the tape. After all, the tape was the reason for the start of her fame.

Back then, Kardashian didn't have the money that she does now, so she asked her mother to use her house during the shooting of Cribs. During Kim's segment, she showed viewers a dancing pole in the middle of a bedroom, attempting to make viewers believe that it was her bedroom.

12 Birdman Didn't Own the Phantom Donk

Considering that rappers like to show off their possessions, it shouldn't be a surprise that they'll make up stuff if they don't have the wealth that fans expect them to possess. When Birdman appeared on Cribs, he wanted his fans to believe that he owned the red 1972 Phantom Donk. Birdman didn't own the classic vehicle.

Although he has made a lot of money since his episode premiered, Birdman didn't always possess the massive wealth that he wanted his fans to believe. Considering he owned a Bugatti, Birdman doesn't mind that he didn't own the Phantom Donk.

11 MTV Wanted Redman To Lie

Many reality programs have garnered a bad reputation for scripting its shows. When the reality isn't as intriguing as fiction, producers make stuff up for the sake of viewer ratings. When MTV asked Redman to show his house on Cribs, the music network discovered that he didn't own a lavish home, so the producers asked him to rent a mansion.

Damon Dash, otherwise known as Dame, is a music producer, entrepreneur, and actor. Dash, alongside Jay-Z, was the co-founder of Roc-a-fella records. Although Jay-Z went onto makes hundreds of millions of dollars, Dash lost a lot of money due to poor investments and splurging. Dash wanted to make fans believe that he was wealthy, so when MTV asked him to take viewers on a tour of his home, he wanted to display wealth.

Dash rented a mansion from Mariah Carey and passed it off as his. Considering his tumultuous financial life, Dash couldn't afford to purchase a mansion.

9 Ja Rule Didn't Own The House

In the early 2000s, Ja Rule was one of the main rappers on the scene. The public knew him before they became acquainted with 50 Cent. When Ja Rule appeared on MTV Cribs, he wanted to show that he lived a better life than his rival 50 Cent. MTV Cribs made it seem that Ja Rule owned the house that the network filmed.

To his credit, Ja Rule admitted that the house was a rental. Some of the celebrities on the show were honest about not owning the houses on the show, but some of MTV's smart editing made it seem like all the celebrities owned the homes and cars they showcased.

8 Robbie Williams Borrowed Jane Seymor's Home

The reasons that celebrities do certain things remain a mystery to most people. Robbie Williams amassed a fortune during his career. Considering that he had a tremendous amount of money, nobody expected him to fake his episode on Cribs. When the camera's rolled around to Williams' pad, he opened the doors to a house that he didn't own.

Williams borrowed the house of Dr. Quinn star, Jane Seymor. He also hired a butler to make the house seem more lavish. Since Williams had so much money, why bother faking the house and the butler?

7 Destiny's Child Didn't Live Together

One of the female groups that made it big in the industry was Destiny's Child. The girls had talent, looks, and everything else they wanted to show off.

During the filming of their supposed Crib, the girls took the opportunity to show off a shoe brand. When Beyonce dug into a closet, she "accidentally" pulled out a Candie shoe box, a brand that belongs to one of the members. Not only did the girls use the show to plug the shoe brand, but they also didn't live together. Although members of a music group work together, it doesn't mean that they live together and spend each second with each other.

6 Mariah Carey's Piano

MTV stated that Carey's episode is one of the most watched in the show's history. The producers of Cribs were so thrilled with the tour Carey provided that they extended her segment to an hour-long episode, whereas a regular episode of Cribs lasted half an hour.

According to Vogue, Carey's apartment was an 11,000 square foot Tribeca penthouse that had three bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. Viewers were in awe at Carey's abode, as she had a closet filled with shoes, a gym and soaked in the bathtub. During the filming, Carey claimed that she owned a Marilyn Monroe piano but refused to reveal it to the camera.

5 JoJo Lied About Owning The House

In the early 2000s, JoJo gained fame with her hit single Get Out, Leave. Since then, JoJo hasn't made any hits but claimed that she was preparing for a comeback. During the height of JoJo's career, MTV featured her on Cribs. She took us on a tour of a home that she claimed was hers.

During a talk show interview, JoJo admitted that the house belonged to her uncle. She said that she and her mother had lived mostly out of hotels during that time, as she was on tour, promoting her hits. The way she admitted to lying revealed that she had no regrets about doing it.

4 3LW Rented A House

Back when girl groups such as Destiny's Child, Spice Girls, and Atomic Kitten ruled the world, inspiring girl singers yearned to be part of a troupe who conquered the world. One of those groups was 3LW. The LW stood for Little Women. The three ladies who made up the group were anything but little, as they produced numerous hit singles while they were together from 1999 until 2007.

When MTV invited the girls to participate on Cribs, the producers wanted to capture them in the same house. Cribs portrayed that the three girls lived together, but they didn't. Naturi Naughton, a former member, admitted that the house on the show didn't belong to the group, it was a rental.

3 Three 6 Mafia Didn't Live Together

Some girl groups might have lived together, but which rappers have stayed in the same house? Three 6 Mafia is a hip hop group that hails from Memphis, Tennessee. The band's biggest accolade is winning an Oscar for their soundtrack to the movie Hustle & Flow, It's Hard out Here for a Pimp.

Since the band achieved a lot of success, MTV wanted to show the world how the three members lived. All three members were in the house when the cameras stepped inside, but which guys live together? The house belonged to Juicy J, and the other two members were present for the shooting.

2 Brooke Hogan Was Out Of Place

Hogan Knows Best was a reality program that documented the lives of Hulk Hogan and his family. The show garnered prominence in the mid-2000s while the family was living under one roof. When MTV Cribs asked the Hogans to be part of the program, the Hogans reunited for the sake of the program.

Although Brooke featured on the show, many people believed that she didn't live in that house during the period of the filming. The other statement that many people struggled to believe was Brooke's claim that her mother studied architecture in Paris for five years and designed the house featured on the program.

1 Ying Yang Twins Rented A House They Never Saw

Ying Yang Twins are a hip hop duo that produced hits such as Get Low and Wait. Since the band gained prominence, their appearance on MTV Cribs was inevitable. The only problem with their episode is that the duo didn't own the house they portrayed as theirs.

What made their episode a bigger joke is that they didn't see the house before shooting the episode. During the tour, the Twins were as surprised to see the house like the viewers. The design looked like an elderly couple had bought the house. The Twins pointed to wall pictures and stated that they caught the fish in Johannesburg.
