Some celebrities have managed to make names for themselves rising above the fray of their elite status, making time for everyone, from the loyal fan to the restaurant waiter. We're pretty sure they behave themselves in traffic as well, seeing as they are some of the nicest celebrities in Hollywood, which earns them a spot on this list - because being nice never goes out of style, right?
In our day and age, where everything a moderately famous person does will be shared across social media in no time, it has become more important than ever to always think twice before doing something. Many, if not most, celebs seem to be getting the hang of this by now - and can in some cases be considered real role models, unlike some of the fake public personalities some were known to have in the past.
But there are some celebrities who don't seem to care whether they're on camera or not. Some of them genuinely don't care and are filled with a sense of entitlement, believing they should be worshipped like demi-gods at all times. Others can sometimes get caught up in the moment and perform an act that we could all be guilty of doing, but unfortunately for them, they are famous and must deal with the consequences.
They can’t escape the glaring spotlight, even hidden behind the headlights of their exotic luxury cars - celebs get caught with road rage, too. And they've been taking their fits to various extremes, making headlines in the process! Let's check out some celebs who drive like softies, and some who are filled with rage.
19 Softie: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson
Dwayne Johnson is the biggest movie star in Hollywood. Not just because his stardom is almost unparalleled, the WWE wrestler-turned-movie star is 6ft/4in, and a solid 250lb-worth of muscles while sporting a shaved head and tattoos. He really looks like a scary dude, but fortunately, looks can be deceiving.
Even if he's been known to smash through walls and beat up people in his movies, in real life he's known as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. Besides, imagine something did happen - chances are they would back down rather quickly when The Rock steps out of the car. We've also seen Rock pull over for several fans in the past.
18 Softie: Brad Pitt
We actually do know how Brad Pitt would react to a traffic incident. While driving around Los Angeles, Brad Pitt accidentally rear-ended a Nissan Altima with his Tesla, which then crashed into a Kia, causing a three-car pile-up.
The star was seen exchanging info with the two other motorists, who both seemed really excited to meet the iconic actor. Pitt also inspected the damage for himself and took some pictures of the other vehicles before hopping back in his Tesla and driving away. Luckily, it was a minor crash and nobody was injured - but if you end up in a car accident in Hollywood, it might as well be with one of the biggest and nicest stars in the world.
17 Softie - Taylor Swift
Popstar Taylor Swift carries her good girl persona as a theme through both her professional and personal life. From conversing with her fans on Twitter to showing huge amounts of class after her beef with Kanye West, there's no denying that Taylor Swift is a genuinely nice person.
And nice people don't go into road rage mode. Period. Swift probably has a chauffeur who drives her and her squad everywhere she wants to go anyway, so there really wouldn't be any point in her losing her cool and risk ruining her reputation - like certain other stars on this list.
16 Softie - Keanu Reeves
While you'd probably want to avoid messing with John Wick, it is a well-known fact that Keanu Reeves is one of the nicest guys in showbiz. He's been giving away huge chunks of his salary for years, and it turns out he's been funding children's hospitals for years - without telling anyone!
Now, combine being a super-nice guy with being a biker, and you'll end up with a total softie behind the wheel - and he'll know to look out for motorcyclists before changing lanes as well. If everyone was more like Keanu Reeves the world really would be a better place.
15 Softie - Ed Sheeran
If you couldn't tell from his soft-hearted song lyrics, Ed Sheeran is definitely one of the nicest celebrities around. He's been known to surprise fans with everything from hospital visits to wedding day wishes. In fact, Buzzfeed UK actually put together a list of all the reasons Ed Sheeran is literally the nicest.
We won't go into details of that list, but we will say this; if you ever see paparazzi pics of Ed Sheeran in rage mode, you can be fairly certain someone did something wrong and deserved it. We doubt that will ever happen though, just the mere thought of it makes us chuckle.
14 Road Rage: Britney Spears
Ah yes, who can forget the famed attack on the paparazzi with an umbrella - after shaving her head. In between rehabilitation stints in 2007, the bald-headed pop star blew up at a paparazzi tasked with chronicling her increasingly bizarre exploits. Brandishing an umbrella, Spears, after issuing a desperate plea for privacy, attacked the photographer's car.
We haven't heard much from Britney lately, at least not anything umbrella violence related. It's probably wise to just leave her alone when she's angry. At least something positive came from it; in 2017 the umbrella was auctioned off, and half the proceeds would be donated to a charity of Spears' choosing.
13 Road Rage: Chris Brown
Now here's a guy who's in need of some anger management! The artist was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service in February 2009. Brown’s problems are no secret. Since the incident, Brown, has been arrested a few more times and made a couple of trips to a rehabilitation center - and managed to get kicked out almost immediately.
In between all that there has been Twitter rages, feuds, and arguments with employees. This guy has so many issues, it would be well adviced to steer clear of him in traffic - or any other place for that matter.
12 Road Rage: Christian Bale
In June 2008, Bale unleashed a profanity on the set of the film "Terminator Salvation." He was angry because the film's director of photography ruined his concentration by walking into the actor's line of sight during a scene. The audio of the incident was released in February 2009.
Bale also had an incident with mother and sister at London's Dorchester Hotel in July 2008. His sister, Sharon, said she felt her sibling might need help. "He's normally a placid guy but he has done film after film and he really gets into character. I think he just needs some time off." We'd recommend staying out of his way when he's involved in a movie.
11 Road Rage: DMX
Rapper DMX has done some serious time for his road rage issues.
He had to pay $240,000 for an incident at the JFK International Airport while posing as an FBI agent, and soon after DMX was taken in by police after crashing through a gate as he fled the scene.
DMX’s lawyer, Rich Corde, admitted that his client pretended to be an FBI agent because he was late for a flight. But he also called the incident “a bad case of road rage where thankfully no one got hurt.” We guess the lyrics to his hit Party Up (Up In Here) came true? "Y'all gon' make me lose my mind..."
10 Road Rage: Gordon Ramsay
The Hell's Kitchen chef once put a slice of bread on either side of a woman's head and shouted in her face: "What are you?" It was pretty scary, in truth. That was also a skit he did on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
But Gordon Ramsay is also more known for his rage than his actual cooking, so you know this guy belongs on this list. He's also into cars, with several exotic Ferraris in his collection, which means he's probably into driving as well. Do you know what's not funny? Being involved in any form of altercation with a guy who's got severe anger issues. Being yelled at while wearing a slice of bread as a hat is not cool.
9 Road Rage: Julia Roberts
Like a fierce lioness protecting her cubs, Oscar winner Julia Roberts has confronted several photographers if she sees them snapping pictures of her children - she made it very clear her kids are off-limits.
In 2007, she famously chased a paparazzi, swerving all over the road in her car while honking her horn at him until he pulled over. We get that she doesn't want them near her kids, but it's probably not a smart move to put others in danger with her erratic driving in order to protect her kids. As long as you don't try to take pics of her family, we think the odds of being chewed out by Roberts are fairly slim.
8 Road Rage: Liam Neeson
As it turns out, the Irish Hollywood hard man, Liam Neeson, was an amateur boxer in Ireland in the 1960s, so he actually knows a little something about scrapping. As far as rage goes, he told an interviewer that he had bad thoughts and the primal urge to lash out some years back.
The problem with making Neeson angry is that he will hunt down all your friends and family in order to find you... Kidding. But do you really don't want to be the guy who flipped him off while stuck in traffic? We've all seen "Taken," we know what he'll do... and now you know he can actually scrap in real life as well. You've been warned.
7 Road Rage: Chevy Chase
Actor Chevy Chase nearly had his vacation ruined when he confronted another driver over a dangerous merge in New York - only to get kicked to the ground and end up sprawled out on the side of the highway as a result. The report states that a RAM pickup allegedly merged into the middle lane and cut off the Mercedes that Chevy Chase was driving. Chase then followed the truck and flashed his lights until both vehicles eventually pulled over.
Chase states that he thought the truck had clipped his car and wanted it to stop so they could inspect the damage. The other guy said Chase allegedly started screaming at him, asking them if they knew who he was.
6 Road Rage: Mel Gibson
A long time ago he was the Road Warrior, but since then Mel Gibson has had a couple of "unfortunate incidents" involving the others. Mel Gibson said; “I was loaded and angry and arrested. I was recorded by an unscrupulous police officer who was never prosecuted for that crime. And then it was made public by him for profit, and by members of — we’ll call it the press. So, not fair. I guess as who I am, I’m not allowed to have a nervous breakdown, ever.”
Okay, so no more of that then, right? Well, later he was caught driving without his license and exploded with rage towards the officer after being pulled over in Malibu, California. He was eventually let off with a warning.
5 Road Rage: Michelle Rodriguez
For a period of time, Michelle Rodriguez was almost as famous for being a troublemaker as she was for her acting. She has three traffic offenses in LA, including a hit-and-run. She would then go on to violate her probation and end up doing time.
Rodriguez rose to fame in 2000, playing a feisty boxer in the indie film “Girlfight.” She went on to star in such movies as “The Fast and the Furious” and “Blue Crush.” She's fierce in pretty much every role she has ever done, and we don't think we'd want to mess with her if she was having a bad day.
4 Road Rage: Mike Tyson
While Mike Tyson seems to have mellowed a bit these days, there was a time when he seemed to leave a wake of destruction wherever he went. Back in the late '90s he actually had to spend some time behind bars after a road rage incident.
His wife, Monica Tyson, was stopped at a light when her Mercedes-Benz was bumped from behind, that car was in turn hit by another vehicle. Iron Mike was in the passenger seat, he jumped out and confronted the men - things got a little too out of hand. The altercation ended when Tyson's bodyguard and wife pulled him away.
3 Road Rage: Russell Crowe
Russell Crowe's temper put him in a few headlines over the years. There have been several incidents, even taking on his own bodyguard on a movie set. Seriously, you know there are some issues when there's a South Park episode about his reputation - in which he's "fightin' round the world."
In an interview with Australia's Sunday Night in 2014 Crowe said; "I'm extremely sensitive, and that's probably where some of my negative stuff comes from. I'm a little bit intuitive, so I know from a handshake whether somebody means me good or ill. And once I know where they're coming from, I don't want to play that game anymore." Meh, we'll keep our distance from you, Crowe.
2 Road Rage: Shannen Doherty
Shannen Doherty's name is almost synonymous with the term short fuse. She has been in a feud with someone at pretty much every production set she's been involved with. She did get away with being a bad girl for a while when she was younger, it does kind of help to be decent looking we guess? But people did eventually grow sick of her behavior.
Amongst her highlights, we have the time she once used a beer bottle on another vehicle, and then it should be mentioned that she's been taken in for driving under the influence. Yeah, we'd stay as far away from her as possible when driving.
1 Road Rage: Alec Baldwin
Alec Baldwin lost it in New York while on the road. The Hollywood star was taken in by police after getting into an argument over a parking spot in Manhattan. Officials said the men were arguing and pushing each other before Baldwin lost it.
Baldwin had previous brushes with the law. In 2014, he was taken in by officers in New York after cycling the wrong way down a one-way street and getting into an argument with the cops. In 2011, he refused to put his mobile away on a flight from Los Angeles and was eventually removed from the plane. There seems to be a pattern here.
