The Ford GT40 is one of the most recognizable and iconic cars of all time. Designed to take on the might of Ferrari at Le Mans, Ford stunned the world as they took a famous 1-2-3 finish at the event in 1966, starting a run of wins that even now is super impressive. And of course, the 1966 event was then immortalized in the “LeMans ‘66” film. Today, a Ford GT40 can go for a crazy money, the modern Ford GT isn’t much cheaper either. And now, there is another very special version out there for us to enjoy.

Restomod company Everrati have produced this, the Superformance GT40. This car a product of a partnership between Everrati and Superformance LLC, and they say it is an authentic continuation model of the iconic Ford GT40. And it is such an authentic recreation that it appears in both the GT40 and World Shelby registers, and they are even allowed to use the GT40 name and the GT40/P chassis numbers. And perhaps the best feature of all is that this epic continuation model is in fact an EV, bringing the 1960s classic bang up to date for propulsion in 2022.

Exploring The Everrati GT40 In Detail

Let's look at some of the specifications for the Superformance GT40. The car will supposedly have a 0-60 time of less than four seconds, although there is no official statistic for that just yet. However, we do have some power figures for the car. Everrati say that the GT40 will have 800 hp and 800 nm of torque, and that is thanks to a 60 kWh battery pack. When it comes to the range, the car is set to have 125 + miles. Which is in fairness a little on the low side compared to mainstream EVs.

The charging side of things though sounds very good. The GT40 will have combined AC and DC fast charging, which is great for plugging into a variety of ports. And when it comes to driving modes, there will be plenty happy to learn there are two modes. These are the base comfort mode, and the sport mode for extra power and performance. Everrati say that these are the GT40 redefined, and there is plenty that comes with them upon delivery. The customer gets a complete factory rolling chassis plus show quality paint finishes with many standard colours.

Plenty Of Great Features With The GT40

When it comes to the mechanical side of things, the Everrati GT40 has a fully independent front and rear suspension setup and Bilstein coil over progressive shocks with H&R springs. There is plenty of braking power for this car with four-wheel vented disc brakes and Wilwood calipers, so stopping will not be an issue at all. The powertrain system is apparently an in-built Everrati electric powertrain, and it is a 700V system. The system will have an OEM proven dual motor drive unit derived from high performance hypercars applications.

This is just some of the features, too. The chassis is an original style steel monocoque, while above all that there is a pressed steel roof. To suit various markets, there is a right and left-hand drive model available for the owner, which is a very nice touch. To keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, a high capacity air-conditioner is also included, which is something that is a necessity in 2022. And one very curious featured is the active sound performance exhaust. This means that your electric GT40 can indeed sound like it has a V8 under the hood.

A Plethora Of Optional Equipment

The optional equipment that is available with this car is pretty extraordinary. Special paints are also offered up as part of the build, for example multi-layer, matt finish or pearl effect. But it gets better as the iconic Gulf livery is also available as an option, officially licensed by Gulf Oil International and with hand painted decals. Now that is a very nice touch. Custom interior materials and colored brake calipers are more great options, as is the Cat 5 alarm and tracker. Custom audio upgrade options, a Gurney Bubble and front canards are just some of the other options available.

The Iconic GT40 Reborn

With a weight of just 2,910 lbs, this is one of the lightest EVs out there. A big advantage, given how heavy we know some electric vehicles actually are. A weight distribution of 40/60 front-rear should help to give the car great handling, which is actually better than the 38/62 front-rear that the original 1966 GT40 MKII had. There are certainly faster EV restomods out there and more powerful ones too. But none of them will be as gorgeous as this stunning Everrati creation, which is one of the finest pieces of art we have seen for the road.
