Liberty Walk is one of the world's best-known supercar tuning shops. Founded by Wataru Kato, the brand has expanded hugely with divisions outside of Japan such as in Europe but is keen to expand itself further. The company has announced on Instagram, a page ran by Mr. Kato himself, that this year they are going to compete in the hugely popular Formula Drift Japan series and take on its super-strong competition with its newly unveiled LB-Super Silhouette S15 Silvia.

Liberty Walk Had Previously Shown Off The Silvia

A few images of the Silvia S15 have circulated on the Instagram page just a couple of days before the brand announced its entry into the Formula Drift Japan series. The car itself features a pretty wild widebody kit with a huge front splitter and large air ducts in front of the rear wheels and behind the front wheels, plus a spoiler at the rear of the car and a huge rear diffuser. So it was clear that they meant business with this car. The Formula Drift trailer in the background of one of the shots perhaps providing a clue as to what the car was created for.

The video posted on Instagram of the announcement itself and of the full debut of the car shows the Silvia taking part in an event. It is seen drifting itself around a very wet surface. Kato said in the post that it was Liberty Walk stepping up to the next level, with the brand also set to focus on Formula Drift in the United States as well. Kato said that they were not just in the parts game, but that “we are LB Racing now!”

Liberty Walk also announced their driver for the car as well. Hibino Tetsuya was announced as their driver and he is a racing and drift driver and was behind the wheel of the Silvia in the Instagram video posted by Liberty Walk. It seems clear that Liberty Walk want the Silvia to be the top dog at the end of the year, with the phrase “Stay tune & wanna take big Trophy!” perhaps being a sign of the company’s ambitions.
