WelderUp is a custom fabrication shop that comes up with all sorts of diesel engines, diesel injectors, high-performance diesel trucks – you name it, they are showcasing it. And they have a treat in store for us today. Steve Darnell with WelderUp has an epic (and modified) 1958 Chevrolet Apache truck with a two-stroke Detroit Diesel engine in it and there's a new video from YouTube channel Industrial Injection showing it off.

A Big Diesel Engine

The two-stroke trucks have also been seen as rather fun, they make plenty of power and they are incredibly cool looking trucks. And Steve wanted to make a motorbike hauler out of it, and have his own fun machine to drive around in and play with. The engine in this truck itself does not make a huge amount of horsepower, and they were mostly intended for tanks and boats, and they served in WWII and Vietnam.

These trucks though, and their engines and gearboxes, are bulletproof. They are designed to run all day long. So, you are really going to have to give a truck like this some real hammering if it is to break down or falter in any way. Steve’s truck does have a turbo, but as it is a relatively low power V6, then it does not have quite the power to really get the turbos to spool up and make the car go mad.

Such A Cool Looking Machine

But, one thing is certainly for sure. This is one epic looking machine, with the ultimate aim of getting more power into the car and getting it to a point where it can be driven down the highway, at highway speed. It carries motorbikes in the back, has a rather wacky interior and the body itself has not been massively touched, apart from the massive hole for the turbo on the hood!
